Description

Up for auction is a rare 1954 Mercury Monterey Sun Valley Two-Door Hardtop that is a period 1960s East Coast Style Hotrod in two-tone green. The cars modifications were done in the late 60s and it has remained untouched for over 40 years! Barn fresh and ready for a restoration project! Of 79,533 Monterey's produced only 9,761 were Sun Valley's with the awesome glass top. Fewer than 10% are expected to remain making this a very rare example.
Modifications include: door handles, trunk handles, and locks have been deleted (entry through vent window), rear corners have been changed to a rounded style, center tail light and back up lights are placed in a recessed panel below the decklid, gas door was deleted and relocated in the trunk, front and rear bumpers have been changed to a different style, custom frenched-in tail light, headlight bezels have been molded to the body, lower quarter panel vent scoops have been added, front fender louvers and marker lights have been added, custom hood scoop and grille opening, 1955 Chevy quarter panel trim, and various other customization's.
Drive-train:engine is a 1967 Ford 289 V8 and the transmission is a 1965 Ford 3 Speed on the column, rear axle ratio is 3:75. The car was driven up to the 1980s and then was parked. The exhaust has deteriorated and will need replacement (currently very loud).
Interior: all original in excellent condition for its age, the odometer reads 84,375 miles. Iconic 1950s styling and colors!
The car is originally from Texas and now resides in Western New York where it has spent most of its life. The car is very solid underneath and there is little to no rust. The floor pans, cross members, frame, rockers, and underside are very solid. The only notable rust is on either fender just in front of the door corner (pictured) and is still structurally sound. All body modification were done with steel and fiberglass. The original glass top headliner clothe sun shield is included but is deteriorated - the sun shield will serve as a great pattern to be remade.
