Description

For sale is a beautiful 1966 Mercury Comet Caliente. It has the original 289 engine and 3 speed transmission. For some reason the ad above says it's 2 door and 6 Cyl. But it's a 4 door post car with a 289 V8 engine. Has 65,000 original miles. It only has surface rust. Body is straight without any bondo. All chrome is present and in good shape. Bought it as a project car while being a primary caregiver. Have done as much to it as I can do. Many, many things done to it. Here's a list:
All fluids flushed and refilled
Replaced entire suspension and front steering under car
New carburetor
All new brake shoes/drums turned
All new shock absorbers
Tune up including new distributor cap, wires & plugs
New alternator
New battery
New fan belts
New tires and custom rims; have original rims and hub caps
Alignment
Fixed floorboards & insulation
Replaced all weather stripping: doors, windows, hood and trunk & beltline molding
Replaced trunk carpet & fixed/ made functional spare tire and car jack
Painted undercoat underneath car
Fixed/replaced arm rests & ash trays
Door handles (interior & exterior) functional; window cranks functional
New front windshield
New back window gasket seal
All other glass is in great shape
New seat belts- 6; have original seat belts
New carpeting, headliner, slip covers
Had engine, transmission, brake and electrical inspected and repaired as needed by local mechanic in Panama City, FL.
What needs to be done:
Paint job
Leaks rain water in cowl
Windshield washer pump
Carburetor hesitates/backfires slightly when initially accelerating
