1949 mercury 2 Door Coupe
Description
I've owned this mercury since 1999 and it's always been a well cared for, garage kept car. I drive it about once a week and it's been an extremely reliable car. A pleasure to drive and a very smooth freeway car. I've never taken short cuts or the cheap way for repairs or maintenance. Here is a list of the new items I have done to or replaced on this car: engine rebuild ($5900.00), complete wiring harness bumper to bumper, clutch plate and pressure plate with new bearings, new battery, starter solenoid, voltage regulator, hoses and belts, heater valve, fuel pump, clean heater core, brakes and hoses, front tires (rears still have a lot of tread on them) radiator flushed and pressure tested, engine and transmission mounts along with countless other little things too many to mention. It's not perfect as it needs a new headliner and the front seat could stand a reupholster as can be seen in the pictures. I also picture the right front fender which has a small crackle in the paint from the front tire kicking up something from the road and that's where it hit on the inside of the fender. The rear bumper has a bit of chrome loss on the end on the drivers side and the top bar at the rear has a tiny amount of rust (very light). Outside chrome is decent but not perfect. The only thing that does not work is the turn signals. Everything in the signal system is new except the switch in the steering column. If you're looking for a very nice reliable all stock 1949 mercury 2 door, this is the one. The stock 49's are becoming few and far between. Please feel free to ask any questions or if you are local to the los angeles area, you would be welcome to come by and see it first hand. My number is (626) 284-4013. Please keep calls to 6-10 pm west coast time on weeknights or during the days on weekends as I work M-F. As the car sits right now, I have just over $35,000.00 in it and I have all the receipts for everything I have had done to it and any and all services and parts I have purchased for it since 1999. The car will come with an original factory manual, owners manual, body parts catalogue, chassis parts catalogue, floyd clymer book on 1949 mercury cars and an original sales brochure. Engine has about 2000 trouble free miles now as I write this so it's fully run in. Speedo show 81,493 original miles right now but that may go up as time goes on as I do like to drive it now and then. Should the car sell, I accept cash if the car will be picked up in person or cashiers check or wire transfer if to be picked up at a later date in person or by carrier. Funds must clear before the car will be released. Buyer is responsible for pick up and payment is due within 7 days. Title is clear and current in my name. Thanks for looking at my auction and my name is Bill.
