Description

The MGB is a two-door sports car manufactured and marketed by the British Motor Corporation (BMC). Variants include the MGBGT three-door 2+2 coupé (1965-80). Mechanically, the MGB was little changed for 1970, retaining its 1,798cc pushrod engine, four-speed all-synchro transmission, and all the familiar running gear. However, it was given a light facelift and "Leylandized" with a new recessed black-out grille, as well as 1970 only split rear bumper. The MGB GT sported a ground-breaking greenhouse designed by Pininfarina and... launched the sporty "hatchback" style. By combining the sloping rear window with the rear deck lid, the B GT offered the utility of a station wagon while retaining the style and shape of a coupe. GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this one of a kind 1970 MGB GT. A lot of time and craftsmanship went into making this GT what it is. Starting with the engine the normal 1800cc was bored out to 1924cc, the crankshaft was polished, hardened, and oil holes were drilled in the #2 and #4 journals. According to the owner, there is an updated oil pump, ARP fasteners, rolling rockers, and hardened exhaust valve seats for unleaded gas. There is a 4-speed manual transmission with overdrive and a Vernier timing gear set. The paint has been recently done with the restoration and is in a beautiful white with lots chrome accents including the recently done front and rear bumper. New drip molding finishers on both sides, new windshield, rubber glazing, and aluminum finishing pieces. The hood and rear hatch were converted to gas strut lift kits, driving lights added to the front the original wire wheels were changed to alloy sport wheels, there is also a stainless steel exhaust system. From the interior you will notice lots of updates with the Red custom deluxe leather upholstery, dash recovered and dyed to match the upholstery, molded tunnel carpet kit, Working Air Conditioniong, Bristleflex door seals, and heated seats made with carbon fiber, according to the owner there is a new headliner, sun visors, and mirrors. There is a full folder of receipts that document everything that has been done. This is one of the nicest looking, running and driving MGB GT's on the market. It would be impossible to duplicate this car for the asking price.
