1976 Sonoma Sand MGB
Description
This is a great car, which has spent most of its life in the West, on salt free roads, in garaged conditions. The engine was completely rebuilt at 65,000 miles and has excellent oil pressure under all running conditions. The transmission was replaced ~70,000 miles. A Weber carb was installed when I bought this in 2001, and I installed an aftermarket starter motor (far superior to the chronically problematic Lucas) which I've bee very pleased with. The car runs, drives very well, and is ready for a new home. I will be very sad to see this leave my home. I am selling because I have moved to new home, with no workshop or garage. I no longer have the time or workspace for the regular maintenance that comes with any antique British auto. It has been stored under a car cover for the last two years and is beginning to show minor wear from temp changes/humidity, mainly in the tires/wheels. There is no undercarriage or frame rust and all the dash instruments are fully functional. The dash is in excellent shape, with no cracks. The drivers seat has a tear in the vinyl as does the passenger seat near the shoulder. Otherwise, the interior is in very good shape with original carpet. Tonneau cover, tonneau frame, spare tire, and original jack are included. There is very little body rust, and what is present is blemished only at surface level. The paint is an earth-tone sand color, original color, with one repaint at some point before I bought it. The car is due for a new paint job, primarily because of a few spots on the hood/trunk where surface rust shows through.
