You are bidding on a 1960 MGA coupe that has had only one owner besides me. It is one of the most original, complete, unrestored MGAs I’ve ever seen. As you can see in the pictures, the smaller of the 2 tool kits that came with these cars when they were new has never even been opened! The larger tool kit is all there too, but the black burlap sack that holds these larger tools has deteriorated over the years. The King Dick jack, jack handles, grease gun, and even the tire pump, are all still present with the car.
All the trim items are still present on the car, such as the chrome strips that go around the front and rear windshields, etc. The seats have been recovered years ago. I bought a complete, red leather upholstery kit for the car, including all the paneling, for $1,300 from Sports and Classics in Stamford, Conn., and this all goes with the car too.
This is a matching numbers car with its original engine still in it, as well as the rest of the drive train. The owner did replace the coil and the electric fuel pump at some point, but saved the original ones, and they are in the trunk.
The car has not been started for about 5 years, but there were no mechanical issues with it when it was parked. I tried rocking it back and forth in 4th gear to see if the engine would turn over, and it wouldn’t. However, it’s not “crusty”-looking, so I’m sure that it would free up with some oil down the barrels, even though I’d just go ahead and rebuild it if I were going to restore it.
This MGA has had one repaint in its original white and whoever did it apparently didn’t prep the car properly because the paint seems to have chipped off in all the places where two pieces of metal meet. Most of the rust you see on the outside of the car is superficial. The only significant rust I found was a few holes in the rocker panels, which you should be able to see in the pictures. The car does not appear to have ever been in any accidents. The rear panel is like new and the front panel behind the grill is also without any dents or dent repairs.
I expect payment within 5 days of the end of the auction. The car can be picked up after your check has cleared my bank. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. Buyer will be given a Bill of Sale only for this car as Georgia is a non-Title state for cars older than 1985. There is NO TITLE for this car. (EBay does not have an option box for “Bill of Sale Only”, so disregard the “Clear Title” option in their heading.)
If you have any questions, you can use the “Ask Seller A Question” box.
