Description

For auction are a pair of 1960 MGA 1600 project cars (both cars). Not something for the faint-of-heart, definitely recommended for experienced restorers, but look carefully at the photos, there is lots of good stuff here. The body on the black car will need patch panels down low in the sill areas where they all go bad, but the upper portion of the body is in great shape. Only a small area in the center of the rear valence has some dents, the rest looks remarkably good, and even those dents don't seem too bad to pull out. The other car was originally white, but was repainted burgundy in the distant past and is now mostly rust. A shame really, as the body doesn't look like it's ever been hit, but has corrosion issues as you can see in the detail photos. I believe the aluminum panels (hood, doors, & trunklid) from both cars are very straight and great candidates for restoration. Both chassis have the usual rust in the side rails. The chassis for the black car has had a roll bar added on which was later cut off. There is a hole in the trunk floor for the roll bar, but otherwise the trunk pan for the black car is solid. Lots and lots of additional parts go with these cars. Several seat frames, side curtains, 3 transmissions, 1 original 1600 engine and 1 1800 MGB engine that I believe was intended for the finished project, 3 cylinder heads, and much, much more. There is only one title with these cars, for the commission number listed, but it is clear in my name so you should not have any trouble transferring.
Located in southeastern Pennsylvania, both cars are available for your in-person review before the end of the auction. $500 deposit due through PayPal within 48 hours of auction close. Balance due in cash or certified check at time of pickup within two weeks of auction close. I may be able to help with transportation up to a 500 mile radius from Philadelphia, PA provided buyer has discussed this prior to close of auction and agrees to additional cost of delivery.
I have a new project at home and need to clean out some space and put some money in the cookie jar to get started on all the parts that will need. Thank you for your time and good luck bidding!
