Description

This is a 1959 MGA 1500 with a Ford V8 drivetrain and a Chevrolet rear axle Mid 80s Ford 302 engine and automatic transmission out of a Thunderbird with 60,000 miles on it, the previous owner told me.The rear differential and axle are out of a Chevrolet S 10 pickup. The floors are now metal . They beefed up the stock MGA frame by running metal along the inside. Done cleanly. They pushed the stock firewall back into the cabin and widened the transmission tunnel into the passenger footwell quite a bit. And the drivers side footpedals are kind of tight..Not sure I would want to keep it this way, so some re engineering may be in order. The frame and body are beauties. Rustfree and clean as can be.The black paint needs a really good detail. They replaced I think all the chrome on this car. Bumpers,1600 Mk2 grill, windshield frame, tail lite assemblies,et, New front lower valance,.New gaskets.New emblems, lenses, mirror. New windshield with new lower gasket..I think the gas tank is new. New aluminum radiator. New starter .Nice seats out of something or other. New Speedhut digital gauges to replace all the stock British. New wiring here and there. .It is somewhat drivable now . But it needs more work to be a dependable safe everyday driver. It needs work. You will not be able to drive this long distance. Or really even short distance till you deal with getting the drivetrain more civilized.. There is no wiper set up. No top frame. The trunk is filled with parts, some new. Like the windshield brackets on either side. The stock MGA dash is in there but no stock gauges. The headers are new and nice. As is the exhaust system. I drove this thing up the street and it is a blast. But needs some stuff done to get it more civilized for everyday driving.I believe the tranny has a stall set up that makes very slow driving difficult as it kicks in and wants to go drag racing when you are trying to park. This car needs more work on the drivetrain to be really nice.It does not need any work on the body, frame or chrome. Doubt you can find a cleaner, more rustfree body out there. This is a beauty. Finish and clean up the work done so far and finish it up your way.MGAs are getting harder to find This will be a great base to finish building a MGA your way... Clean straight title in my name..I travel around mostly the West Coast and might be able to get it to you or close for reasonable money. I can arrange shipping to Long Beach California shippers for export for $300 no problem. MGAs are getting harder and harder to get in any shape these days. .
