Description
Offered for sale, from KURT TANNER MOTORCARS, is this very rare, desirable, and original MGA Twin Cam Roadster with only 1788 units produced in total. This car was just purchased out of an East Coast collection where it had been tucked away forever while the owner had plans to restore it.This car was produced from March 24th – April 6th 1959 and was dispatched the next day on April 7th. Factory records indicate it was finished in Olde English White with black interior, black top and tonneau cover. Additional items included a sliding side-screen set, windshield washer, heater, competition windscreen, and adjustable steering column. At some point in its life the original engine was exchanged for a factory replacement unit AEH37 RS 19721, which was very common in those days. The car still retains its factory original / stamped VIN data plate, appearing to have never been removed from the car. Its body number 76328 places it nicely in the first batch of 1500 twin cam roadster bodies. This car is extremely solid all the way around and is believed to have been last registered on the road in New York in February of 1970, according to a windshield sticker. The car was to be repainted at that time, but only got as far as removing some chrome trim, unbolting the fenders, and partially stripping the rear fenders. The body on this car is great overall and very solid with barely any rust. The fenders are all solid and original with perfect headlamp areas. The trunk floor looks good. The car's underside looks excellent with a great frame and nice inner rockers. Grille fit is great. The car's interior looks very original including the dashboard in very good original condition. Some original carpets are included. The top frame is in good shape. There is a set of sidecurtains supplied.Mechanically, the car's twin cam engine starts on fuel poured in the carb float bowls. It runs well, exhibiting excellent oil pressure with no smoke or noises, and sounds very good (please see video). There are some extra items that go with the car including it's important 5th (spare) wheel.Overall, this rarity of an MG should be an easy car for a simple cosmetic restoration on a very solid and straight car with a good running engine. It's nice and solid enough not needing to come all apart...If one chooses, it's also a perfect donor car for a Concours restoration. Please look at all pictures and call or email with any questions. We will assist in shipping worldwide.
