The engine runs
Just completed oil and filter change (Mobil 1 Full Synthetic). Also a tuneup.
Tires are old and not reliable but will hold air.
The 4 speed transmission works. It needs a clutch master cylinder rebuild. I did insure gearbox works by starting in gear then shifting at appropriate rpm, forward and reverse. Those of you who have had a master cylinder failure on the road know what I am talking about.
The brakes and handbrake are working.
It has rust and dings, scratches and scuffs and the paint is peeling and cracking in places. I have taken pictures of these issues as it is hard to see them all with the light glare.
The windshield has some scratches.
Replacement rocker panels were riveted and floor pans around 1991.
Windshield wipers work but need new blades.
Lights work but blinkers do not work, they light up but don't blink.
It has original Lucas headlights that work, both low/high beam.
It does not have a stereo but wiring is in place.
Missing window crank handle on passenger side.
The dash cap has cracks and is missing a piece. The leather seats are showing signs of wear and the passenger leather seat has seams coming loose.
Two pictures of the instrument panel, #1 shows with car not running and #2 with car running so you can see Tach working, the Oil Pressure Gauge working (almost 50psi Good Oil Pressure) the Fuel Gauge working and the Temperature Gauge working with the engine at operating temperature.
This GT was garaged in mid 1990's when my Dad died. The title is in his name. I will provide original Virginia title and a bill of sale as his Power of Attorney. The Vin Plate on vehicle reads GHD4U/149531 G. The title only has 149531. I am not sure why it was abbreviated. I am NOT inclined to figure it out. I will be selling this vehicle with title the way it is.
When the GT was parked the cylinders were filled with Marvel Mystery Oil to keep the rings from sticking. While getting it ready to sell I disconnected the fuel line from the tank and ran a fuel line to a gas can. I removed the old battery as it was not usable. My Triumph TR7 battery would not fit into the battery compartment so I extended the battery cables to the inside rear of car to get it running. My TR7 battery does not go with the GT and the cable extensions are easy to remove. I am surprised at how well it runs after years of storage in the garage.
I have tried to be as descriptive as possible, both in writing and with pictures. Look at the pictures and ask questions or set up a time to come look at it.
