Description

1979 MG Midget – Runs good, Looks good, Fun driver

It’s time for someone else to have FUN with this MG. It’s been a great car for a number of years but I just have too many cars and this one just doesn’t get driven enough. Driven on the weekends in the summer then parked in the garage

This is a 1979 MG Midget III in Carmine (Maroon) with a black interior. It is a strong west coast rust-free driver. Odometer shows 74K but I can’t validate that this is accurate. The 1500cc engine starts up easily and runs strong. The 4 speed trans shifts smooth and decisive. The carb has been rebuilt not too long ago and the fuel pump and performance coil were replaced at the same time per the prior long-term owner. The fuel tank appears to have been replaced at the same time. I have replaced most of the rubber moldings within the last six months. Original spare wheel is in the trunk. The black top is free of tears or holes but the window is hazy.

The car has been repainted its original color by the prior owner. The side panels still look great but the top panels are showing some crazing. All body panels are straight and show no evidence of repair except the small side panel between the driver door and the front fender. The driver door was caught by the wind while changing the door restraint and it created a shallow vertical crease in that panel. It’s hard to see unless you go looking for it.

The interior has been redone and remains in good condition with no tears or opening seams in the leather seat covers. Carpet is in great shape. No cracks in the dash. The radio is a Sony unit with an amp in the trunk. I’m not into music so haven’t turned it on since I’ve owned the car so can’t vouch for it.

There are three repair/restoration manuals and a box of odd spare parts that come with the car. Clean California title in my name.

Car is for sale locally so I reserve the right to end the auction at any time. Low reserve and reasonable Buy It Now price for this classic British roadster that will continue to appreciate in value.

The car won’t be shipped until the money is clear in my bank. As always, I encourage potential buyers to come to Northern California and inspect the car, on the other hand it’s an inexpensive car being sold by a highly reputable seller, so you decide…..
