Description

1970 MGB Split Bumper Roadster w/Overdrive Transmission, Rebuilt Engine and A/C
This is a nice example of an MGB for someone looking for one that has been sorted out and in nice condition. This MGB has the sought after Overdrive Transmission that functions and A/C that currently does not; all components are there to get working again. Frame off restoration was completed in 2004; car was originally red and is now painted a dark blue that looks amazing.Items to note; during the restoration the engine was rebuilt; new wiring harness throughout; Minilight wheels including spare and much more. As with any classic car, not too many miles have been driven since the restoration but during that time the following was replaced:
  • New Battery
  • New Brakes
  • Rebuilt Carb
  • Tie Rod Ends
  • Cam cover gasket
  • Oil Pressure Switch
Car was in Maryland so even though it was always parked inside and not driven in bad weather there is still the typical surface rust on the undercarriage as with any well cared for East Coast Car. Car comes with what appears to be the original set of keys (2 sets).
I literally just purchased this car from owner of 10 years and had it shipped to San Diego CA. I am a car enthusiast and have other classic cars many of which will now be going up for sale. My daughter's College Placement Tutor just advised us that her amazing grades and recent excellent ACT scores will allow her to go to any school of her choosing. Her choosing is Stanford, Berkeley, Georgetown or Harvard...yikes! While we have a College Savings plan; it won't cover these schools. So, my Classic Car Mutual Fund (Ha!) will be for sale and it will have to start with the car I most recently obtained. This beautiful 1970 Split Bumper MGB.
Please let me know if you have any other questions. Also, I purchased a new front grille emblem from the UK as I noticed the current one has delaminated. This is a 47 year old car and with all classics, it has it creaks and leaks; but all is fine when it is a sunny day and you are on the open road. I have stated this cars condition to the best of my abilities and would encourage you to come and see and inspect for yourself. There is no reason why this car could not be driven a reasonable distance if you would like to fly in and drive home.
Auction may end at anytime as vehicle is for sale locally.
