Description

1986 Mitsubishi Starion. LS Swap. Running, driving tire burning machine. There aren't many of these cars on the road anymore. The more common version of this car is the re-badged twin called Chrysler Conquest TSi. This car was made semi-famous by Jacki Chan in The CannonballRun 2. In 1986 Mitsubishi decided to up the game and added the factory wide-body fender flares. The 1986 model year was the last to have the door mounted seat beltswhich is a plus in my book compared to the slow-motionguillotine of the electric track belts. This car turns heads to this day. It is a sleek example of 80's Japanese design of a grand touring coupe. You will get compliments every time you pull this out and drive it.The 2.6 turbo said its goodbye years ago, and in its place sits the venerable Chevy LS V8 power plant. This particular engine came from a 2004 GMC Sierra and is a 4.8l drive-by-wire. The intake and fuel injectors have been replaced by LS1 units in order to clear the stock hood. The alternator and power steering have also been relocated lower using a Dirty Dingo bracket. When this girl is parked with the hood shut it is a real sleeper, but lift the hood or start the engine and the jaws drop and eyes open wide. The exhaust note cannot be mistaken for an inline 4......it can only be described as a menacing rumble with bad intentions. The exhaust is a full custom job as you might expect and goes 2 into 1 with a 3" minimal muffler. The power is sent through a GM automatic transmission to the Mitsubishifully independent rear axle with limited slip 3.54 gears. This car leaves "11"'s when it marks its territory. The car is 31 years old now and does showsigns of age in its factory paint. The bumpers and hood have been resprayed, but don't exactly match the quality of the factory. The doors have dings here and there as you might expect. The cowl between the wipers and the hood is crumpled as if the hood fell on it (been like that since I've owned it). There are a couple spots of rust on the driver side lower body panel, but that just shows this car is real steel. These aren't fiberglass flares and trim, this car is solid steel. The hood is secured using pins because the oversized radiator takes the place of the factory latch. The factory sunroof is a nice and rare feature that can be adjusted open via a rotating knob or can actually be removed and place in the back. The cardboard shelf that hides the hatch contents has been replaced by a custom-made wood and carpeted piece from Niko at SQC and he ain't making any more of them. This is a turn the key and drive-itcar. I have had it over a year and spent far more than I care to total up. Just look at those front seats redone in leather and know that $850 was spent on those 2 seats alone. There is a custom 3D printed cup holder because this car was built before cup holders were a thing. The wheels are the stock wheels in 16x7" front and 16x8" rear with nearly new tires all the way around (you will be replacing rear tires frequently). Now just the bullet points: No AC. No speedometer. No cruise control. Headlights work as they should. Windows go up and down as they should. All other gauges work. Custom Tachometer. The steering wheel leather is peeling at the top. The rear seats have dried at the top and broken from their seems in the center. The horn is weak so I usually just rev the engine to get other drivers attention. Your significant other may get jealous of your new attention grabber.Winner picks the car up in Tulsa, OK. I have never shipped a car before and have no idea how it works, but if the buyer pays for shipping I will do everything I can to make sure the vehicle is loaded properly and taken care of for you, but once it is in the hands of the shipper I am no longer responsible for it. I hope somebody is looking for this car and can make a nice home for it as it is almost like a family member.Good luck and God Bless.
