Note actual vin does not contain last "0", it is correct otherwise, but ebay was insisting on 17 characters, and this has only the first 16, and it is legally registered and has clear Missouri title, don't know why this happened, but there you are!!

Very nice "SURVIVOR" example. Best Short wheel base runner I've seen in years. This is my 6th 1st generation Montero, had my first in 1990 in Sierra Leon, West Africa (Pajero there), so I got a pretty good feeling for them and I don't believe there are any major problems. This can easily be converted to show quality, left as the daily driver it is, or somewhere in between.
. If you already know these Mitsus, you know the 2 most common failures are the oil filled resistors in the ECM/ECU units and the "interruptor" style timing belts. The first usually last about 100,000 and the latter is reccomended for replacement every 60,000 miles. The currently installed ecm works fine, but i also have another, which is a plug and play and works just as well. I don't remember which, but one is a rebuilt that I purchsed in 2013 which has solid state, not oil filled innards, so should last much longer. As far as timing belt, it was replaced when new long block installed under 25000 miles ago, so should be good for at least 30-*40000 more miles.
Runs and drives nice, but has a battery issue right now so had to jump for video, I may or may not replace it, will update if I do. I'm selling it cuz my wife and I just don't 4 Wheel much anymore and want to get something like a transit van to convert to camper.
I've never run a history report on it, but i believe I'm fourth owner, and I know it was in Southern California from around 2005-2008, then registered in Kansas by same guy, then I bought it in Branson Missouri in 2010, replaced the long block and much more in 5/6 of 2012 (I have most of those receipts) . Many extra parts off another 1988 and a 1990, which I will list below. There is no significant rust, just a few dings/tree branch scratches, etc. and one dent and scratch behind passenger door where my stupid self backed the corner of my aluminum boat into it.
The threads for the o2 sensor in exhaust manifold are stripped so has to be tightened periodically or makes for very noisy ride!
I'm 6'7" and cracked steering wheel housing by cruise control with my knee, but the cruise does still work, just a little awkward to activate. The only other switch/control/gauge issue I'm aware of is gas gauge which works intermittently. Interior shows age but it's livable and I do have extra rear bench seat as well. Original carpet, but rough and tons of dog hair, so you'll probably want to use as pattern. Center console stash cover chewed up, I have replacement but it's blue. All original good glass, deeply, but legally tinted including visor tint at top of windshield. Rear windows slide freely, don't leak, but also don't lock.
The photos, video and feature and parts list below should tell what you need to know, but I welcome any questions.
