You have now just discovered one of the most interesting 1957 Nash Ambassador Country Club Coupes on the planet. This 1957 Nash Ambassador Coupe was one of the Fabulous 1957 cars from the Glenn Patch Collection which are better known as the 57 Heaven Museum that was housed in the Dick Clarks American Bandstand Theater in Branson Mo.
The 57 Heaven Museum has been housed in the lower level of the Dick Clark American Bandstand theater on Branson's entertainment "strip." Authentic dealer showroom dioramas, a drive-in burger stand and a theater, Texaco service station, motel and other structures provided period settings for displaying the vehicles.
Convertibles made up half of the 66 vehicles that have been exhibited in Branson for the four years their doors were open. Patch had set out to collect and restore every convertible model for the year. That meant not just one Buick but a Special, Century, Super and Roadmaster, and so forth. That being accomplished, he continued to add hardtops and station wagons, and a pickup of every make.
The Country Club two-door hardtop was the top of the Ambassador line, and was available in a range of paint and interior schemes. Many Ambassadors, our subject car included, were painted in triple tone--ours with a Frost roof, Pacific Blue body and SolitairBlue accents, festooned with chrome spears and additional trim.
By 1957, the market had essentially dried up for mid-priced cars from independents, and that's been the case for decades. For years, automobiles from mid-line independent manufacturers have represented the ultimate in 1950s-era bargains. But times, they are a-changin'. Perhaps it's due to the widespread use of the Internet, which has had a major effect in incubating online clubs devoted to once-obscure marques. Or perhaps it's just a matter of many car collectors looking outside the Ford-GM-Mopar triumvirate for something a bit different. Whatever the reason, prices are universally on the rise.
Unique cars like the Ambassador Country Club two-door coupe are especially valuable because of their rarity. In this final year, Nash only took orders for 997 cars in this level of equipment. Condition also increases the value in this particular case.
All the cars in the 57 Heaven Museum were restored and maintained in No. 1 condition, but had been drained of fluids and had the batteries removed for long-term temperature-controlled display. In 2009, the entire Glenn Patch / 57 Heaven Collection was auctioned off on site to buyers from around the world.
Just recently this 1957 Nash Ambassador was brought back to life (Running Condition) . the complete fuel system, brake system and cooling system were gone thru to make the Nash able to ride and drive. At this point the Nash will require a few more adjustments like a new slave valve for the power steering pump and possibly a rebuilt steering gear box to make the power steering system fully operational.
