1960 Nash Metropolitan

This rare 1960 Nash Metropolitan- is the perfect project car. Sure to turn heads wherever you go. The Nash was built in England and brought here to the states.
This model was aimed at the women of the time-a real ladies car. See the pictures of the original ads for this car in the picture section below.
The Nash has almost perfect body and interior-see the awesome pictures below. Looking at the engine are it looks like mostly everything is still original parts.
A brief history of the 1960 Nash Metropolitan
In 1950, the Nash Motor Corporation, one of the leading independent US auto manufacturers, decided to test public reaction to a new small car they were considering putting into production. This was a revolutionary concept in those days of big gas guzzlers.
They issued a questionnaire pamphlet called a "surview" showing pictures of a prototype concept car, based on a design by independent auto designer William Flajole, with a reply-paid envelope for people to return their opinion on the car. Quite an innovative strategy for the time.
The reaction to the surview convinced Nash that there was a market for a new small car. Since no US auto factory had the tooling or experience to build cars of this size, it was decided to produce the car in Europe. The Austin Motor Company was at that time the largest car manufacturer outside the US, and was an obvious choice, in view of their reputation for quality build and engineering.
Between 1954 and 1962, a small car called the Metropolitan was sold to over 100,000 buyers in North America and Britain. Thousands of these strikingly cute automobiles are still on the road today. One is our 1960 hardtop, built in Birmingham, England for the Nash Division of American Motors. These remarkable vehicles, which in many ways were years ahead of their time.

This 1960 Nash Metropolitan is a perfect project car. With a little work it would seem that you can get it running at no time.
The car did run when we received it but now it does not start . There are some wires under the dash that are detached, which may explain why it wont start.
Here are other issues reported by our mechanic:
Gear shift stick inside the cabin doesn't function properly.
Gear box under the car has oil leak.
Passenger side window track is broken. Window and top metal lining are
held by tape.
Passenger Inside door and window handles are damaged.
Outside door handle was repaired but the passenger side handle needs to be secured-see pictures.
