Description

The "Metropolitan's staying power and its never-ending cuteness" have earned it "a place among the Greatest Cars of All Time" in the opinion of automotive writer Jack Nerad, a former editor of Motor Trend magazine.
This is how the Wikipedia page describes the Nash Metropolitan, and never a truer word has been said about this marvelous little car. Owners are passionate about their Mets, and the love of this little car is evident by the reactions this car gets on the road and at car shows.
This car is a rare beauty. It is an original convertible Metropolitan.. not a conversion. The car has been completely mechanically overhauled. With only 500 miles on the rebuilt Austin I4 engine, new transmission, completely new wiring harness, installed AM/FM/Auxiliary radio that uses the original controls and is completely invisible, rebuilt steering column, rebuilt braking system with new lines, reconditioned radiator. Anyone who is familiar with the Met will know the name Crutcher, and all work has been lovingly presented by this Nashville icon.
This car comes with an older restoration, and presents a little body rust in a few of the normal areas.. door bottoms, rockers, quarters, and there is a small tear in the convertible top, but otherwise the car is in fantastic shape, with solid floor pans, trunk, and frame. Also, the glove box needs to be replaced ($42 part from Met Parts).
It is a joy to drive, the car shifts well with its rebuilt steering column and shift linkage powering the "three-on-the-tree" transmission.
I have enjoyed this car so much since I acquired it from my dad's estate. So much so that I recreated his local chapter of the Metropolitan Owner's Club, the Metropolitan Opry. My experience with this car is well documented on the club's facebook page at facebook.com/pg/MetropolitanOpry.
Interest in the original convertible models is skyrocketing, evident by recent auction prices reaching record levels.
