Description
Barn find 1992 Nissan 240SX S13 SE Coupe. Purchased from second owner who stopped driving car about 2 years ago when motor began knocking.
Motor does start and move the car under its own power but will have to be trailered or towed.Always a southern car, purchased originally in Louisiana and later moved to Tennessee by second owner.
Original window sticker and mileage statement when purchased new are included (FWIW, mileage statement of 97 miles matches AutoCheck listing).Digital cluster odometer went out shortly after the second owner purchased the car and it read 45,000 miles. He estimated he put 50,000 miles on the car since owning it.
Since the old digital cluster and HUD were broken and the dash badly cracked, I replaced them with a good donor dash with only small cracking and an analog gauge cluster which reads 205,000 miles. All gauges including the speedometer now work. I transferred over the matching VIN tag from the old dash. Old digital gauge cluster and dash are not included.Air conditioner and all fan speeds work. Power door locks and power windows work as well. I installed a slightly used Sony head unit as the old aftermarket stereo was broken. Power antenna does not appear to work.
Carpet was pulled back to clean out any bugs and dirt that had moved into the car. Floor pans were noted to be shiny and rust free. I sprayed for bugs while doing this. Also cleaned out and vacuumed all the cigarette ashes I could as car was smoked in by previous owner. The body of the car is rust free and very straight. Only a few dents noted with the largest dent being in the roofline along the driver's side. Paint is dead and tired with the clearcoat gone in many places and some heavy paint chipping along the lower hood. Paint on nose is badly weathered down to the yellow foam plastic and I have removed it in preparation for cleaning and engine work. Nose with trim and wheel well arches are included with sale. Dealer installed foglights in early picture with nose have been removed and are not included. The frame and underbody of the car is in excellent shape with only light surface rust in places. The front battery tray is rusted through (see pics looking through wheel well and above from battery). I have included a new battery tray for installation or to make a template. Rear bumper beam has some surface rust at the license plate location.Mudflaps shown in earlier pictures are not included. Factory spare tire, jack, and wrench are not shown but included.
Original SE spoke wheels are included but have been removed due to old tires going flat. Car currently sits on OEM steel wheels with good and fairly new Douglas tires which hold air fine. Both sets of wheels and tires included.
New clutch kit and machined flywheel are included with sale. The clutch currently in the car feels grabby and abrupt, so it will likely need replaced with these extra parts. Also included is a set of Sealed Power standard rod bearings in case you want to try just replacing the rod bearings (I figured it was worth a shot).
I have too many projects and decided I don't have the time to finish this one. Car is registered and titled in my name (I am the third owner listed on AutoCheck report).
On Jun-28-16 at 08:49:32 PDT, seller added the following information:I do not see any signs of accident history. All paint appears original. Please note that car is wet in some pictures as I had just hosed it off.
More pictures and video of the car starting and running are available upon request.
