Description

1985 Nissan 300ZX base coupe, manual transmission. 114k on the clock. This car is a true time capsule and has had extensive work done to it to ensure it's a reliable driver for years to come. Adult owned and adult driven. Over $11k invested. I bought a later model 370Z and this one has to go. Have owned several Z cars over the years.
Interior is 9/10. No cracks in the dash. Several updated odds and ends, new leather upholstery on the seats. Power mirrors, windows and locks work as they should. Paint is original with a few minor blemishes one should expect after 31 years, but it shines nicely and shows very well. Original wheels shine up pretty good too. T tops work and seal properly, all weather stripping still soft and supple. I have the original T top bags in perfect condition and I also have the original owners manual. Zero rust underneath. This is a dry AZ car.
New parts at 100k:
-New AC compressor and retrofit to R134A refrigerant. AC blows ice cold... better than my new 370z even.
-New brake master cylinder and soft lines
-New clutch master and slave cylinder
-New front and rear main seals on the engine
-New alternator and belts
-New signal and headlight switch
-New fuel pump and tank sending unit for the gas guage
-New Alpine head unit
-New tires at 102k
-Redline MT synthetic oil in the transmission at 102k. This is a GL4 spec oil made for Japanese manual transmissions. Trans shifts silky smooth.
-Full suspension overhaul at 106k to include all polyurethane bushings throughout, new KYB shocks and struts, new strut insulators, new strut bearings, new tierod ends, balljoints, and new rear coils to eliminate the old Z squat. I also added a Cuzco strut tower brace.
-New rear calipers and new ceramic pads throughout at 106k
-4 new kicker 6.5" speakers in the stock locations at 106k. I only play 80s music in this car!
-New fuel lines, fuel filter, and all old HVAC vacuum lines replaced at 107k
-New leather seat upholstery and new rear louvre at 107k
-New OEM E brake cables and new CV boots at 108k
-New clutch, catalytic converter and muffler at 108k
-New fuel pressure regulator at 109k
-New oxygen sensor at 111k
-New timing belt, water pump, radiator hoses, coolant head temp sensor and wiring harness, new valve cover gaskets, new MAF, cap, rotor, plugs, wires at 112k. This was over $2k alone. Have receipts!
-'87 300ZX ECU upgrade at 113k. This offers better factory fuel curves and about 5 more hp than the original and works with all existing sensors.
-New K&N cold air intake and idler pulley at 113k. Factory intake will go with the sale.
The car gets synthetic oil changes every 3k miles since I have owned it. It passes Arizona emissions easily, doesnt use a drop of oil and doesnt leave any puddles or spots on the driveway. I have thousands more in receipts for this car than my asking price.
There are Z31savailable for less, but remember these are 30+ year old cars and most will need work. This one has had all the mechanical work done to it already. This car is a great daily driver or weekend cruiser and is dead reliable. I wouldn't hesitate to drive it across country as well.

Z31s are only going to increase in value and while it isnt a turbo car, it is a nicely preserved 2 seat 5 speed car that will hold its own and is very fun to drive. So many others listed for sale are the much less desirable automatics. Have some stock take off and extra parts and a Haynes repair nanual to go with the car as well. Will provide all receipts foritems listed aboveand the original owners manual as well.

The few blemishes are shown in the pictures. There is a small ding in the right front fender, a touched up scratch on the nose next to the Z emblem, and slight bubbling of the paint for about 2 inches along the top of the windshield from an improper windshield installation. The windshield has since been replaced and the area under the mounting was hit with primer to prevent further rusting, however to make the car perfect, this would have to be repaired. Metal is solid underneath. Frame rails are dented from previous owners using as jacking points, but there is ZERO rust underneath, and the car is undercoated to boot. I've disassembled and reassembled all suspension components which gave me a good opportunity to spend time under the car - it's solid and rust free....there's not even any surface rust anywhere.

Bid with confidence. This is a solid car that can be driven across country today. Clear Arizona title ready to go. Just needs a notary.
