Description

1950 Oldsmobile Rocket 88 – RARE ‘Holiday’ Hardtop Coupe

High Quality, Pro-Touring Style Resto-Mod

Looking for something that will stand out in a crowd? Forget the tri-five Chevys...... instead, consider this ultra rare Oldsmobile Rocket 88 Holiday Hardtop Coupe - powered by a 400HP Olds 455! Custom from the frame up, this body-off build began with a solid original Holiday hardtop, and was carefully massaged to the show winning beauty you see today.

The frame has been boxed with reinforced rails, and has a professionally installed Fatman front end and a Ford 9” rear with sway and traction bars. 4 wheel air-ride suspension gives you a great ride and awesome “in the grass” stance, and 4 wheel power Wilwood disc brakes (with polished calipers and drilled & grooved rotors) provide plenty of stopping power, which is needed when you’re running 455 cubes of pure Oldsmobile power! A March serpentine belt system, Edelbrock intake and carb, ceramic coated headers and dual Flowmaster exhaust and a custom balanced driveshaft add to the capable performance of this gorgeous ride.

Outside, the subtle custom touches may go unnoticed to the amateur eye, but any Oldsmobile guy will immediately recognized the details. Working from the top down, you’ll find shaved factory gutters but with a gentle flair-out in case you get caught in weather, as well as a shaved hood, trunk and door handles. The original Olds trim was tossed and replaced with custom one-off side spears hand-made by the incredibly talented Gene Winfield (Winfield Customs). He also had a hand at the smoothed bumpers, which have been tucked tightly against the body. And notice the custom floating grill bar, which incorporates the original hood globe – subtle and modern! But my favorite part – the custom 1 piece side glass – no more vent windows, but check out the quality of the custom hand formed window trim. Perfect fit, as if the factory built it that way!

Inside….where do I begin! Dakota Digital gauges, Vintage A/C, power windows (all 4), power door releases, power trunk release, smooth dash with custom A/C vents to blow the cold Vintage A/C, and that’s just a start. The beautiful upholstery is done in soft tan leather (smooth, with perforated accents) – even the smooth custom headliner! And the sound system rocks – a Pioneer head unit plays thru high end Focal speakers (the best of the best), and of course an amplified subwoofer adds the kick, which is nicely hidden away behind the back seat. Or course the truck is also upholstered to match!

There is so much more to tell you about, but I’ll let the pictures do the rest of the talking. The car now has a bit over 7,000 miles on the build (which was completed 9-10 years ago), and can be driven anywhere with confidence. In fact, I took it last fall on a 400+ mile trip to the Pleasanton West Coast Nationals. I'min Paso Robles, CA - which is located exactly between San Francisco and Los Angeles, on the CA Hwy 101 (easy access via drive, or fly-in to nearby San Luis Obispo airport).

I was asking $47,900 – but I’m ready to sell this and at least one of my other cars within the next 30 days due to a real estate deal I am working on. I won't say what the reserve is, but I will tell you that it is under 40K - this car is seriously for sale!) Any left over money may go toward by ’41 Graham Hollywood and ’32 Hupmobile Cabriolet rod projects.I don’t really want a trade, but I might consider some trade options if it ads cash.

If you are a sincere buyer, you can call me at 805- three nine one -0509 (cell), or email me directly at hotrodranch at live.com (of course you'll need to use the @ symbol instead of 'at', but I'm trying to avoid all of the nonsense spam). My name is Scott, and I happy to answer any questions you may have about this awesome Olds 88! Just askBEFOREyou bid please. Thanks for looking!
