1972 Oldsmobile Cutlass ’S’ Holiday Coupe, an original California rust-free car. Complete frame-off restoration, with no expense spared, just completed and featuring a totally rebuilt high performance drivetrain and suspension. The paint is show quality GM code 65 Flame Orange base coat / clear coat and was done by a body-man from a world renowned restoration shop, at the cost of $16k. The Thornton Muscle Cars W-25 Ram Air Hood (at a cost of $3k) has the correct GM code 11 Cameo White painted stripes via a stencil kit from Supercars Unlimited. All body emblems and trim was removed, other than NOS wheel opening moldings and new USA plated front & rear (442) style chrome bumpers.
The body was removed from the frame and all the original body panels were media blasted, along with the radiator support and frame. The frame and body tub floors inside & underneath were painted with POR-15 semi-gloss black rust preventative paint. All body panels were painted separately and then re-assembled. The door hinges were rebuilt and new rubber body mount & bolts were installed. All new Soffseal weatherstripping was installed. A new 9" Delco Moraine power disc brake booster, master cylinder, all brake lines and fuel lines were replaced with the correct factory bends by Inline tube. A new fuel tank, (4) core all aluminum radiator and and a new tinted windshield were installed.
The front suspension includes USA Made UMI Performance tubular upper & lower control arms with Delrin & polyurethane bushings, Moog springs, all Moog steering linkage components, Monroe gas shocks, brake rotors, rebuilt OEM brake calipers & discs, upgraded 1.25” sway bar and performance close ratio power steering box.
The rear suspension includes USA Made PMT Fabrication boxed upper & lower control arms with polyurethane bushings, frame stiffeners, Moog springs, Monroe coil-over gas shocks and an upgraded 1” rear sway bar.
The engine is a 1970 Olds (442) 455 c.i. bored .030 with with a balanced rotating assembly, Icon 10.5:1 forged pistons, Eagle H-beam connecting rods, Edelbrock Performer RPM aluminum heads, Comp Cams XR276HR-10 hydraulic roller camshaft, Morel hydraulic roller lifters, Harland Sharp roller rocker arms, Comp Cams double roller timing chain, Melling high volume oil pump, Milodon 6 quart oil pan, Edlebrock Performer aluminum intake manifold, Holley Quick Fuel 750 double pumper carburetor, MSD Pro Billet distributor, MSD Blaster coil, MSD 6AL ignition box, an upgraded Delco one-wire alternator with built-in regulator and an original rebuilt Delco-Remy high torque starter.
The transmission is a 1969 Olds (442) Muncie M20 4-Speed completely rebuilt with all new bearings & seals, a rebuilt & re-chromed Hurst Competition Plus (442) shifter, RAM performance clutch and pressure plate.
The rear differential is the original Olds GM 8.5 corporate 10 bolt, completely rebuilt with an Eaton Limited Slip unit and 3.73 gears. New wheel bearing, seals, brake cylinders and brake shoes.
The wheel & tire package consists of custom ordered backspacing, American Racing VN500 (Olds SSI Rally Style) aluminum wheels 15” x 10” rear & 15” x 8” front. The tires are Goodyear Eagle GT radials, size P275/60R/15 rear and P255/60R/15 front. McGard lifetime chrome lug nuts were installed.
The exhaust system is comprised of GM factory performance Oldsmobile W/Z exhaust manifolds, 2.5” aluminized pipes, Dynomax Ultra Flow mufflers & Pypes stainless steel trumpets.
The interior includes front bucket seats & rear seat that were recovered with USA Made Legendary Interiors white seat covers and new foam. All the white plastic seat panels were replaced. The white headliner and black carpet were replaced. Legendary rubber Cutlass script floor mats were also added. The front door & rear quarter interior panels are original and in excellent condition. The 4-Speed console was refurbished and new woodgrain installed. A Sun tachometer was installed in the dash and a Sun triple gauge pod was added under the dash.
This ’72 Olds Cutlass has zero miles since it’s frame-off restoration. Every bolt & nut has either been replaced or refinished. The odometer shows the 99k original miles prior to disassembly. The Cutlass retains all it’s original rust-free body panels, other than the only General Motors approved OAI W-25 hood made by Troy Thornton. I have invested over $50k cash in this car, not to mention the labor cost. The buyer will not be disappointed with this car and the quality of the restoration.
