Forman Motorworks is pleased to present this beautiful 1949 Oldsmobile 88 Convertible. This classic Olds was originally from Southern California and for the past several years has been part of a collection in Fountain Hills, AZ. The previous owner occasionally enjoyed taking it out on 500 mile road trip, which meant the car had to be meticulously maintained and cared for.
It wears a high-quality coat of the original (and striking) “Crest Blue” paint. The leather interior and canvas top are dark blue with light blue trim & piping. It’s powered by the famous 303ci “Rocket” V8 and shifts gears through a 4-speed “Hydromatic” automatic transmission. No expense was spared when the paint, interior, chrome, top, tires, & shocks were restored. The engine runs strong and smooth, the transmission shifts with ease. With 135 HP and a relatively small, lightweight body, this car easily cruises with modern traffic. The manually operated top looks fantastic, it’s trouble free operation makes it easy to fold down and the matching boot is a snap to install. The top lines up perfectly with the windshield header, and latches down with the turn of one crank. The windows also line up and seal extremely well, something you don’t often see on convertibles from this era. 1949 was the first model year for the 88, they built 5338 and not many of them survived. This example has everything you could ask for, it’s trouble free, and ready for another long-distance road trip.
Options:If you’ve been looking for a super-sharp classic American convertible with presence, this one is definitely to be considered. It simply wouldn't be possible to restore a car to this standard at today's pricing. A true opportunity for someone in the market.
