Description

1977 Oldsmobile Toronado Incredibly Well-Preserved SURVIVOR One Owner, Only 25,440 Miles Housed In A Climate Controlled Garage Since New Excellent Documentation Brown Metallic / Buckskin VIDEO WITH LISTING VIN: 3Z57K7M721867 Very well optioned; please see photo of original window sticker. This car was optioned with the Y79 appearance package (landau top, accent stripe), as well as all the creature comforts. Premium stereo, powered front seats, cruise control, tilt/telescope wheel, and air conditioning, among others. We purchased this unbelievably clean ‘77 Toro from a gentleman in Iowa whose father... had owned the car since new. Sold new in Boone, Iowa, the car remained in Boone until we brought it to Chicago in 2019. The car served as the owner’s daily driver for the first couple years of his ownership, then after that the car was seldom used. For the better part of the last 40 years the car was carefully stored in the owner’s climate-controlled garage. When the owner passed away a few years ago, his son had the car gone-through and got it back on the road. Fluids were flushed, new mufflers, tailpipes, and tires were fitted. The car has been driven 1500 miles over the course of the last year, and currently is in need of nothing other than a loving new owner. The car will come with quite a bit of documentation. In addition to the original window sticker, manuals, and all other accompanying booklets, the car will also come with a signed letter from the owner’s son telling the history of the car from new. In 2010 the car was the subject of a Hemmings Magazine article, and a copy of this magazine will go along with the car as well. Exterior: - Please see the video along with the listing, as the car is shown in detail. - Original Brown Metallic paint throughout, as confirmed with an elcometer (readings of 1.9-2.8 across every panel). No panels have ever been removed or resprayed. Paint is incredibly impressive. We see a fair amount of low-mile survivors, but almost never are they this clean. This car has no scars from long-term storage, as survivor cars so often do. Aside from one tiny, barely visible scratch on the driver’s door, there aren’t any blemishes on the car. Seriously. No scuffs or damage on the polished rocker trim, and not even any chips on the lower corners behind the wheels! Truly an amazing level of preservation. - Landau top is like-new. No signs of age. This car has been in climate-controlled storage its whole life and it really does show. - Wheels are excellent, with no damage, oxidation, etc. SureTrac whitewall tires are from 2018 and have about 1500 miles on them. - Glass and light lenses are all clear and crack-free. - Filler panels (crack-prone rubber) were replaced with color-matched fiberglass units. A great long-term upgrade. - Polished surfaces are all excellent throughout. Bumpers, mirrors, trim pieces. No oxidation, mirror-like finish. Interior: - Buckskin interior is again, very impressive. No scuffs, burst seams, fraying, or anything of the sort. No observable wear on seats both front and rear. The gold inserts really pop in sunlight and look great against the brown metallic exterior. - Door panels are in nice shape, with no kicked-open markings or oxidation on the window switch panel. Passenger door panel does have one wood insert that was replaced, which you will note in the photo. - Dash is fantastic. No aging of the wood, everything looks very much like new. Dash top has no cracks, discoloring, or warping. Steering wheel is free of cracks. Headliner is nice and tight. - All powered systems are functional. AM/FM radio, R12 air conditioning, heat, fan, defrost, wipers, all lights and signals. All gauges are functional as well, and the odometer reading of 25,440 is accurate. Even the analog clock works! Under the Hood / Underbody: - Please take a look through the underbody photos, as the car is documented in detail. Underneath is much like the rest of the car; the underbody is in excellent condition. No through rust or anything even close to it. No previous rust repair or anything like that. Exhaust is new from the mufflers back. - Engine is the 6.6L Olds 403, good for 185hp and 325 lb ft. Transmission is a TH425 3spd Automatic. The car runs and drives like-new. Every bit as well as you would hope from a top-of-the-market, one owner, low mile survivor. The car is dead silent, buttery smooth, and very, very comfortable. It starts first turn, idles cool and steady, pulls through the gears with no hesitation, shifts smoothly, tracks and brakes straight. Steering is featherweight. If we had to choose a car for a cross-country highway cruise, this would be right at the top of the list.
