Description

For Sale is this 1971 Oldsmobile Cutlass S. The story goes is that this car came out of a barn on the east end of Long Island, NY after a long 20+ year slumber. Although "original" and "survivor" can come to mind, it's a mix of a few things. To start, here's what it features: It is powered by Oldsmobile's Rocket 350 engine with 2 bbl carb and 350 transmission. It has a/c, power drum brakes, power steering. Aftermarket working am/fm radio, electric rear defrost, power driver seat, bucket seats, lighted rearview mirror, and louvered hood. The car has rust, severe on the roof as it had a vinyl top, needs lower quarters, bumpers, muffler, and trunk pan. Floors and frame are SOLID! Doors are clean, fenders in great shape.
I purchased the car with the intentions of taking parts from it for my other Oldsmobile. As I started to go over it, I realized just how nice this car actually is. With the key in, as you open the door, the buzzer works. Most of the lighting works in the car, including the reverse lights and interior lights, anything else I assume would be just a burned out bulb as the harness wires look ok. Opening the hood, everything looks factory correct, as if someone may have changed some things here and there, but all of the parts are where they belong. The a/c compressor kicks on and somewhat cool air comes out of the vents (needs to be serviced). Even though the speakers are not mounted correctly, the aftermarket radio still works and sounds good! Underneath does not show any signs of severe rust or rot, the floors do not feel "squishy" the frame looks great. I replaced the starter, battery, fuel filter, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, points, and coil to get it running. It does drive as well, but it smokes quite a bit and pulls left when you hit the brakes. It does needs a muffler, it looks like a can with the lid half pulled off.
With all of that being said, I could not part the car out. It seems like this car would be a perfect candidate for a restoration that shouldn't cost a limb to do. Although it has rust, there seems like there is so much good left that it deserves to be brought back to its former glory.
I kept all of the parts I removed for reference, they will be included with the car. I also have the registration, owners manual, and one set of keys.
Please keep in mind that this car is a project car and is no where near perfect, so it will be sold "AS-IS". The car can be seen in person by appointment. Delivery is available within the New York Tri-State area for a fee. Otherwise it will need to be picked up at your expense. A non-refundable deposit of $250.00 is required within 48 hours of auction close, if paying the entire balance in anything other than cash, any fees incurred will be added to the final price.
This car is for sale locally as well, and I reserve the right to remove the listing at any time.
If you have any questions or would like to see the car, please feel free to message me here or via call/text to 631-664-3265.
Thank you for looking!
