Description

Up for sale is a real 1968 Oldsmobile 442 Convertible with a NOM 455-4v 365hp with "C" big valve heads and cam (I don't remember the specs but car sounds very healthy) that has approximately 400 miles on the rebuild to go with turbo 400 transmission. The 455 is a '70-72 block with '69 "C" heads and '69 400/455 4v intake. I have owned this car with my father since 2004, and car was lightly restored at that time. In 2004, we had the car completely stripped to bare metal and the very little rust that it had was professionally repaired before receiving a high-end paint job in Carousel Red (original color was Scarlet Red). The frame was also cleaned and painted in chassis black. At that time we also had the convertible top replaced, interior seats were recovered including new foams, bolsters, new carpet, and wide oval steel belt tires. All exterior trim was either replaced with NOS when available or polished if obsolete. Has power steering and power drum brakes. Also has original 442 bumper with cutouts (will need rechromed) and stainless exhaust tips. This car has been garage kept for the duration of our ownership. Because it has hardly been driven and mainly stored, I recently replaced the battery, ignition coil, distributor points, spark plugs, plug wires, voltage regulator, condenser, drained gas out of tank and replaced with fresh, flushed the radiator and changed the oil. The car is cold blooded at first but starts, runs and drives very well once warm. Car stops but I'd recommend bleeding the brakes as the pedal is a little soft. The power top goes up and down with no issues. There are some spots with very minor bubbles that you really have to look for (have not come through paint) starting on rear trunk lid, passenger side rear quarter at the very bottom, and a spot in the trunk channel on the passenger side. I will try to upload some additional pictures of these areas, but I have a hard time getting these areas to show up in the pictures. Paint is still excellent and presents very well with wash and wax. With very minor maintenance mainly bleeding the brakes, and giving the car a real good detailing in/out, this car would be a real nice weekend or Summer cruiser as-is since it is very presentable as-is. The other option is to simply take the car to another level and freshen it up given its rarity. I have a video walk around with the car running that I can try emailing to interested parties. I have this car priced to sell to avoid all of the BS. You are not going to find a nicer, complete running and driving 442 convertible for the price. Hagerty Valuation places the car in good condition at $30,000. NADA places the car at $35,650 for Low Retail and $57,500 for Average Retail. Car is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction at any time. Given all of this, the car is 51 years old. As such, there is no warranty expressed or implied.
A $500 non-refundable deposit is due within 24 hours following the auction's close. A deposit is a commitmentto purchase and is applied towards the purchase price. The commitment to purchase is not contingent upon inspection, financing, or any other terms.Full payment is required within 7 days of auction's close via either cash (in person) or wire transfer (preferred) to my account- absolutely no checks, credit cards, Paypal, Bitcoin, etc. If deposit and/or full payment is not received within the prescribed time frames, the car will be relisted and the transaction will be considered void.
