1971 Oldsmobile 442 Coupe with Vin #344871R153425. Speedometer says 43,402 but I can’t confirm whether that is correct. This 2-door hard top is ready to be restored. It runs good with clear Texas Title. I purchased the car 13 years ago or more and have kept it in a garage or storage the entire time. Originally, this was a 4-speed manual transmission with a 455 engine, but the 4-speed was swapped into an automatic (I believe a turbo 400) by the previous owner. I have the 4 speed transmission that was in the trunk up for auction as well. The clutch pedal is still in the car with brackets. It has a Hurst dual-gate shifter with a black console. The car is not original paint because the paint code indicates a palm green and as you can see it’s now blue. The paint wasn’t done very well because you can see some of the old palm green bleeding through in spots. The dash pad was swapped out for blue and the seats, door panels and the rest of the interior swapped into white. The steering wheel is a little sticky. The interior is ‘driver’ grade in pretty decent shape but the back deck behind the rear seats needs replacing / upgrading and there is nothing on the underside of the roof. The windshield has a crack in it on the passenger side. The driver’s seat has a wear hole / spot and the driver’s arm rest pad is very warn, just like my boots.
The car runs strong with a little loose in the steering. The brakes are hard – I can’t remember for sure but I think my dad and I replaced all the pads and shoes so it either may need an adjustment on the brakes or flushed or a new master cylinder. The transmission leaks around the pan and I have been meaning to fix this but just haven’t had the time. The a/c unit and compressor are missing. The driver’s side rear quarter has a big bondo area so I think that rear quarter should be replaced. The passenger side rear quarter has some rust right in the lower rear area and around the wheel well. There is some rust (as you can see from the pics) around the rear window area on the right side on deck lid and passenger side quarter that should be fixable. It has headers on it with typical rust. It has traction bars on it as well. The trunk pan looks like surface rust to me but I am not an expert. The passenger side window seems a little off when you shut the door so either it needs to be adjusted a bit or may not be the correct window.
