Description

Lots of car with a little price tag, this 1969 Oldsmobile Cutlass hardtop has a unique look and a torquey V8 that makes it a fantastic entry-level muscle car. The unusual paint, nicely appointed interior, and lots of options certainly help, too!Priced a Chevelle lately? This Olds does everything just as well for a lot less dough, and with the handsome neo-fastback look, it does it with a unique Oldsmobile twist. The striking teal paint was done some time ago and is showing some age and use, but it also gives the Olds a high-performance look that suits its mission. It's got a bit of 442 DNA running through its veins with the black stripes and spoiler on the trunk lid and nobody's going to argue that this isn't a great-looking car. There's a nice shine to it and it sure look like it's always been a straight car. Is it perfect? No, but the price is right and there's a ton of potential here; it's definitely got the right attitude. The black vinyl top definitely helps, making the car look longer and lower and it reminds everyone that Oldsmobiles were upscale cars, even the muscular ones. The tan cloth interior looks good inside the teal bodywork and aside from a few minor upgrades, delivers an authentic Oldsmobile experience. The upholstery is obviously not original but it was nicely done in a way that replicates the original patterns. It's got some age and use on it, and many parts are original, including the dash pad and door panels, but once again, at this price, who's complaining? The steering wheel is probably the most glaringly deteriorated part, but that's easy enough to remedy, and on the plus side, there's a newer AM/FM/CD stereo that sounds quite good. It's also got factory A/C, which is always a nice perk on the Oldsmobiles, although the system needs to be serviced before it's ready to enjoy. There's plenty of space in the back seat and the trunk is big enough for all your gear on a long cruise or road trip vacation.A small-block Olds is a very different animal from a small-block Chevy, and the matching-numbers Rocket 350 in this Cutlass makes torque just about everywhere on the tach. Fitted with a big 4-barrel carb, it makes this car feel 500 pounds lighter when you mash the throttle. A bright red factory air cleaner sits atop a nicely painted Oldsmobile Gold engine, making this an engine bay that's hard to mistake for anything else. It starts quickly and easily and runs superbly, evidence that someone's priorities were in the right place. Long-tube headers connect to a fairly tame-sounding dual exhaust system, but that's really the point of an Oldsmobile, right? Power without the juvenile displays of horsepower? There's a TH350 3-speed automatic transmission and a rugged 10-bolt rear end, so no worries about weak links in the driveline. Flashy Rally II wheels with charcoal gray centers make it easy to identify as an Olds and are wrapped in fat BFG radials.Go ahead, give an Oldsmobile a try; at this price, what do you have to lose? You're going to love the way it drives and once you crack the throttle, you'll forget all about the other A-bodies. Call today!
