. ---- AN OPENING BID CAN WIN !!!
For sale is an EXTREMELY SOLID , VERY WELL PRESERVE, LOW MIL, ALL ORIGINAL = 1972 Fiat Spider 850 Sport Convertible. This car has been in storage for the past 30 YEARS !!! This vehicle was recently discovered in a small rural "un-incorperated"town situated along the Mississippi River Bank in Central Illinois. It is in deed a true, unmolested, original survivor, bonafied . !!! --- This car not ONLY began its life in the bright sunny California climate, but ALSO spent many of it's early years being greatly appreciated right there in the immediate Los Angles area where it resided. In the -mid- 1980's it worked it's way east, where it was purchased by a college student that was at the time attending classes in Dubuque Iowa at the University of Dubuque. This time period is further documented by the original Iowa Department of Transportation vehicle inspection sticker that is still firmly attached in the center of the windshield. After a few years at school and as graduation neared, it became apparent that he would now be in need of a more spacious & passenger friendly mode of daily transportation. After having purchased a more practical vehicle ( in 1987 ), the Fiat was parked for storage inside a warehouse at the company in which his grandfather owns. That is EXACTLY where it has remained for the better part of the past30 years !!! Boxed into a corner, as if its existence had practically been all but forgotten about. It was not until more recently ( 2015 ) that the family decided to get the car out & offer it for sale. They ended up selling it to a gentleman who lived by them locally, in the same area. It is he, who on my behalf is offering up the car for sale. This ( me getting involved ) promptly occurred ONLY after he decided to disclose to me what his true intentions for this car really were... As I mentioned previously, he lives in a small " un-incorporated " town. The residents there are legally allowed to drive unregistered / recreational vehicles on the city streets. This allows for golf carts, ATV's, etc... to be used for general transportation. He himself, personally has an interest & appreciation for " trikes " ( 3 wheeled vehicles ). Since this Fiat is a rear wheel drive, rear engine car... He envisioned & intended to " SIMPLY " just - CUT OFF - the - FRONT END - of this virtually rust free, precious piece of automobile history !!! This was so, that after hacking it all up he could then attempt to incorporate a motorcycle style front fork and tire for the completion of another one of his radical creations. IMMEDIATELY, upon hearing his explanation. I knew only ONE THING ! I personally had to not only RESCUE but also quickly attempt to SAVE this practically pristine time capsule from his utterly sinful intentions of total & absolute destruction !!! Slowly -AND- reluctantly he eventually came around & gave in. I finally got him to agree that this specific car was an ENTIRELY WAY TO NICE & COMPLETE example, of an all original un-touched classic sports car. My SOLE intention was only ever to protect the car by passing it on to somebody who actually appreciated its shockingly profound original condition. He informed me that he had not yet been able to dedicate much time to the car since having gotten it home. That was explained as nothing more than to have gone as far as to put a "good" battery in the car. I was told that ALL of the electronics that he tested, appeared to work just fine ( head light, brake light, turn signal, radi, dash light, etc... ). He went on to say that the brakes, clutch, transmission, emergency brake, window cranks, door locks, & other miscellaneous items that he checked all appeared to be operational ALSO. However, upon turning the ignition key, he claims to have gotten / heard nothing. As if the starter did not even have power to it. He said, he believes that the solenoid on the starter might be hung up & is not allowing for it to engage. Therefore the starter would probably need to be removed & be rebuilt. That was the entire extent of his knowledge & effort in regards to having the car... --- Outside of that, I do not see much of anything else besides maybe a good wash, wax, & detail that this car would need before being able to drop it's top & start cruising down the road once again.
PLEASE carefully view the pictures provided, as they will obviously speak for themselves !!! I uploaded as many as ebay would allow me too. The last picture is an example of the ORIGINAL 1972 Fiat Spider 850 Dealership Salesman Brochure. Inside & out, it extensively shows photos that feature one of these EXACT cars in this same EXACT color combination. Fiat heavily promoted this as their stand-out "poster" car for that year. It just goes to show you, that thiswas one of THEE hottest import sports cars to own & drive back then during that era...I can only imagine the length of time in which it would take for one to find "another" 1972 Fiat Spider 850 Sport in such amazing original & complete condition. Don't miss out on this RARE OPPORTUNITY ! - Title is clean & in hand.
Due to the prolonged extent of time in which this vehicle has been in storage & was therefore last drive, I am forced to offer this car for sale "AS-IS" & / or for Parts-or-Repair purposes only. Winning bidder is responsible for any & all transportation fees associated with its purchase. Since this vehicle is being offered for "local" pick-up only, ( either ) a cash payment upon arrival or a bank-to-bank wire transfer are the only 2 forms of payment in which will be accepted. Please address any questions or concerns prior to the end of the auction.
