I had one of these in 1986 and really loved it. I bought this about 2 years ago and had a lot of work done to it and have I've been driving it ever since. It's been totally reliable and fun to drive a turbo. Listed is some of the work done.
Excellent paint job, new tires, exhaust system, front and rear gearbox seals, front struts, rear shocks, rear brake cyls, shoes, brake hoses all round, master cyl, battery, seat covers. The original seats aren't too bad, not torn up just faded. For the motor, new injectors, plugs, plug wires, cap and rotor. Steering rack boots, radiator fan and controller, hoses and a million other things. I have a huge shop manual and an electric and vacuum manual. The heater works really good and it passed the smog test not problem. The radiator can leak a bit, it seeps water around the cap seals but only in the heat of summer and you can have a few drips of oil under the motor. When it's cold one rocker can tap, but this goes away when it heats up. The motor runs well (no smoke) and the turbo work perfect with not funny noises. The gearbox can thump into second if you don't release the turbo pressure with the throttle pedal, other wise it's smooth. There's no rust underneath at all, there was a tiny bit behind the door cladding at the bottom of the door but this was repaired when painted. The dash top was cracked and I had it repaired, it still didn't look perfect so I have a dash cover on it. Overall it's in pretty fair condition for a thirty year old car.
