Description

1965 Sunbeam for Sale. Older, nicelybuilt driver car. When the small British Sport Car called the AC Ace was equipped with an American Ford V8 andthen named the Shelby Cobra, many people took notice. The Rootes Group, another British car manufacture was inspired by the Cobra, So they took their Series III Alpine roadster powered by a 1.7L 4-cylinder engine to various car builders including Carroll Shelby, to see if they could develop a car similar to the Cobra. Shelby and California racer Ken Miles began fitting a small Ford V8 into the little Alpine.

As with the Cobra the small block Ford motor was successfully fitted into the engine bay. Shelby sent the car back to Britain for testing. The Shelby design, with its engine set far back for good balance was chosen and the Sunbeam Tiger was set to be produced by Jensen Motors Ltd. based out of Staffordshire England.

This vehicle has an older nicely done restoration. It is a drivers car. As such this vehicle is nice but not perfect. There are few scratches as indicated in the pictures. I've owned the vehicle for over 15 years and it is a lot of fun. This vehicle runs and drives nice. I purchased this vehicle from a gentleman who was listed in the 1990 Membership Roster of the Tiger East and Alpine East. I am not aSunbeam expert and have very little knowledge about these beautiful beasts. It was the look and power that grabbed my attention. Due to my lack of knowledge this vehicle is priced to sell with no reserve. The market will determine it's value.

Thanks for looking.
