1952 Hudson Wasp

Same owner since 2002, 13 years Rare 1st generation, model-2 door Sedan Inline 262ci 6-Cylinder Engine Single Carter Carburetors 3 speed manual transmission Air conditioning

MotoeXotica Classic Cars is pleased to present this unique and rarely seen 1952 2 door hardtop Hudson Wasp, truly classic American collector’s find which is mostly original and complete with aftermarket air conditioning! First-generation Hudson Wasps featured a functional “step-down” design with dropped floor pan and chassis creating a lower center of gravity than contemporary vehicles that aided the car’s handling capabilities which was a bonus for racing. The Hornet’s lower and sleeker look was accentuated by streamlined styling, sometimes called “ponton” styling. The car’s unique, low slung appearance and silky handling earned Hudson an image that – for many buyers – eclipsed luxury marques like Cadillac.

The Hudson Wasp is an automobile that was built and marketed by the Hudson Motor Car Company of Detroi, Michigan, from the 1952 through the 1956 model years. The Hudson Wasp can be classified by two distinct model year generations: from 1952 to 1954 when it used Hudson’s existing short-wheelbase platform, and in 1955 and 1956 when it was built on the full-sized Nash platform, with completely different designs for each of these two model years.

The Wasp (Series 58) was introduced by Hudson for the 1952 model year as an upgraded version of the Hudson Pacemaker, replacing the Hudson super Custom models from 1951. The Wasp was available in two- and four-door sedan, convertible and a 2-door hardtop designated the Hollywood. The Wasp was built on Hudson’s shorter 119-inch wheelbase using the company’s unitized, “mono-bilt” step-down chassis design.

Finished in a great looking Rootbeer and Razberry metallic two-tone exterior displaying a very original and period correct paint scheme. Inside, the seat upholstery looks period correct in a tan cloth with visible wear (as seen in the photos). The door panels are finished to match the seats and show normal wear, with ample patina.

This nicely represented Hudson is equipped with the 262 cu in L-Head six fed by a 2-barrel Carter carburetor which is linked to a 3 speed manual transmission, 12 volt conversion, inoperable speedometer, aftermarket air conditioning, windshield wipers inoperable, spilt manifold to side pipes. The car also features 15 inch colored coded steelies with Hudson hub caps, wrapped in wide whitewall tires, original AM radio. Included are the service, bodywork history records, totaling over $14,000 in receipts. Daily use or weekend get-a-ways, this iconic 50’s sled is ready when you are!

With the low production numbers these Hudsons are becoming increasingly hard to find in such solid well kept condition. GET OUT AND DRIVE!!!

Current mileage on the odometer shows 19,980, it is sold as is and is mileage exempt on clean and clear Illinois title. Be sure to see our other auctions for some additional incredible Hudsons ; 2 & 4 doors!
