In 1957 Pontiac offered the basic model "Chieftan", the mid-tier "Super Chief" and it's top of the line model was the "Star Chief"
The Star Chief was the sports car for the modern era in the late 1950's, a sleek yet bold 2 door coupe with a jet age'd tail-fin design this was one of the bold, brash and fast "muscle cars" of the time. These Star chiefs are extremely rare and because of thin tin metals many of these classics have rusted out, been destroyed and have vanished. Rarely do you find such a solid example of an original car that has been well maintained, updated and restored over the many years.
MECHANICAL: Car starts up every-timewithout any issue and drives very nicely. Motor has had a complete tune-up and gone through extensively. Vehicle does not pull and tracks very straight going down the road. Transmission shifts effortlessly and mechanically this car is extremely sound. The engine has been rebuilt several years ago and does not smoke or misfire or give any hesitation when accelerating. Brakes are good and car stops as it should. This car can be driven with confidence and has been meticulously and thoroughly maintained over the years.
BODY: Cosmetically this car looks very sharp and always gets major attention wherever it is driven or parked. The car was painted several years ago and the paint looks very nice, has a nice shine with a very few minor imperfections. Small imperfections and spots of rust are found in places that are very common. (wheel well rocker etc.). Otherwise the regarding the body as a whole virtually a RUST FREE car. No holes in the floor or the trunk is very solid. Very little of the body has diminished and is in extremely good condition for it's age.
INTERIOR: The interior was professionally reupholstered and very much attention, detail and time was put into the interior when the car was restored. EARLY MODELS ONLY were outfitted with "Stars" on the seats (see pics). These interior "stars" are an extremely rare option and add a distinctive authentic 1957 Pontiac feel to this already rare coupe.
Dash, interior chrome, headliner, door panels and seats are all in excellent restored condition and really make this car a treasure.Seats are very comfortable and make driving this classic a pleasure. All manual windows operate smooth mechanically, seat mechanics and all system mechanics are manual and all function as they should. No Issues.
BRIGHTWORK: Chrome and Stainless is all there on the car and every piece is in tact. The Stainless is in exceptional shape and shows no signs of deterioration....very nice. The chrome bumpers are original and as of now have finally started to show their age. There is no major rust, but pitting and hazing has covered bumpers (normal for a car this old). From 5 feet away the bumpers look excellent but closer inspection you'llfind the pitting and small dings from over the years. The chrome in my opinion is the only major flaw stopping this from being a true show car. Someone who would like to see this car taken to the next level could consider restoring the bumpers and tail-fin chrome housings to make this truly a complete restored car.
This car is not of show quality by judging authorities at shows, however for the everyday collector or Pontiac enthusiast this is an excellent original piece that has been kept in fabulous condition for its time. This isn't for somebody who wants a perfect car. This is an excellent candidate for an A1 restoration (little to no rust) however this is a great driver for the collector who appreciates it for what it is.
Anyone who appreciates a classic Pontiac that has been restored yet still retains it's originality will be pleased with this running and driving automobile. Star Chief's in this condition are becoming harder and harder to find. Perfect restoration Star Chief's command $40-50-60K+ this if for somebody that does not want a perfect car, an affordable car that one can actually drive and enjoy.

Over time going forward this car being a top of the line model will appreciate in value if kept in it's current condition is a good investment and will always bring big money. They just do not make cars like this anymore and is an absoluteeye catcher wherever it goes in traffic or at the local show.
