Description

Cost new $105,000 in 1982! This is not a "kit" car. This is factory built by craftsmen with 1930s design inspiration and modern reliability and comfort. With such fine appointments as Waterford Crystal ashtrays, etched glass windows and burled walnut dashes, this was a car for the rich and famous. Farrah Fawcett, Rod Stewart, Aaron Spelling, Julio Iglesias, Wayne Newton, Sylvester Stalone each owned one. This one has a celebrity background too. It was owned by pro football super star...Jim McMahon. It was a gift from his wife for helping the Chicago Bears win the Super Bowl in 1985. He enjoyed and drove this car for several years. The majority of the miles were put on by him. We just bought it from a member of his family with his name still on the title. It was a ststus of wealth used on TV shows like Dallas and Dynasty. Called the Rolls Royce of America by Fortune magazine. This is car #135 of only 187 Series lls were made and only 517 Clenets were ever built total. It's built on Ford Chassis and running gear, service by anyone that can work on a Ford! EXTERIOR: What a dramatic appearance. Long sweeping fenders, a hood that seems to go on forever with chrome pipes flanking each side and a massive chrome grill in the front. Other features include an array of lights in front, a glass etched hood ornament, wire wheels, wood trim and pop up gas cap. There are even etched glass vent windows. The fenders are substantially thick fiberglass and the body is metal, both are straight. There are no signs of damage or rust. The 2 tone paint has a smooth glossy. Although it shows really well, It is original and if you look for flaws you will find some stone chips and touch ups. Chrome is exceptionally nice, it sparkles. The light blue convertible top is very good original. INTERIOR: I'm sitting inside the car as I write this in a very comfortable set of Recaro seats and looking at a broad dash full of instruments and finished in Burlwood. Has quartz clock, tachometer and only 44,111 actual miles on the odometer. All of the upholstered surfaces are wrapped in Connolly leather. There are plush carpet and overlays. The center console extends to the back and houses the 6-way power seat controls, cruise control and two Waterford Crystal ashtrays. There is a very unique 4 spoke, leather wrapped steering wheel on a tilt column. The shifter is unlike anything I have ever seen, it's a walnut knob on the dash you pull out to select the gears. All original in great shape showing just gentle age. Underside of the convertible top is an insulated cloth headliner that hides all the framework and makes it quieter. MOTOR COMPARTMENT: Completely stock Ford, from air cleaner to oil pan it is just as Ford made it. Has a 351 Cleveland 2 barrel engine. Uses factory Ford ignition, air conditioning system etc. TRUNK COMPARTMENT: It is deep and offers some space. It is wall to wall lined in carpet. UNDERSIDE: All Ford components- brakes, overdrive trans, suspension, rwar end etc. Has recent dual exhaust. If you don't like attention, do not buy this car! It will certainly turn heads. It will make you feel like one of the celebrities that have owned these!
