1953 Morgan Flat Rad Roadster - Very Original and Complete Barn Find
Description
You are bidding on a 1953 Morgan roadster that has been in storage since the '60s. The previous owner was involved in an accident damaging the left rear (as seen in the pictures). He then stored the car in his garage, planning to repair the damage, but he never got to it.
The car is incredibly complete since it was taken off the road at a comparatively early age. It still has its original front and rear bumpers, original SFT462 spot light, and everything else. I bought this car 8 years ago and planned to restore it but never got to it either. Since the left rear corner of the frame was tweaked a little from the accident, I bought a brand new frame with front suspension (shown in the pictures), along with a left rear fender and rear shroud, all from the Morgan company in England, where you can still buy new parts for these old cars. I also bought new, correct gauge faces, white dash knobs, including the hard-to-find light switch, and other new parts that would be used in a restoration, all of which came from the Morgan Car Company. I also was able to buy a NOS radiator shell from the Morgan Company that was apparently the last one they had. It also goes with the car.
The wood on the car is in very good condition, even the wood in the left rear area where the accident occurred.
I don't know if the engine is stuck, but it's not crusty-looking so I'd guess it would turn over. I didn't care one way or the other though, because I was planning to completely rebuild it.
The car is all matching numbers with its original engine still in it, based on the Heritage Certificate on got on the car, which also states that the original color of the car was green with dark tan interior. (The interior in the car now is original to the car.)
The buyer will be given a Bill of Sale and the open MD Title I received when I bought it.
