Description

1975 Bricklin SV-1 barn find project showing 13,515 miles offered by Gas Monkey Garage with . ! Found in a barn where it had been stored for the past 30 years this rare example ( #2,107 of only 2,854) has survived better than most of these I’ve seen with firm, solid body panels still bonded tightly to the steel safety cage (see all pics, especially the door area where most of the delamination usually starts). The Bricklin SV-1 is the creation of Malcolm Bricklin, an American millionaire who had previously founded Subaru of America. The Bricklin factory was not able to produce vehicles fast enough to make a profit. As a result, only 2,854 cars were ever built. The model name (SV-1), stood for "safety vehicle one, the Bricklin was designed for safety with an integrated roll cage, 5 mph bumpers, and side beams. The body was fiberglass with bonded acrylic in five "safety" colors: white, red, green, orange and suntan. The cars had no cigarette lighter or ashtray. Non-smoker Malcolm Bricklin believed it was unsafe to smoke and drive. The Bricklin is the only production vehicle in automotive history to have factory powered gull-wing doors that opened and closed at the touch of a button as standard equipment. The interior is fairly complete with good dash, door and interior panels making for an easy restoration if so desired. The original Ford 351 Windsor engine will start up with an auxillary gas supply as the factory tank had succumbed to the 30 year old fuel causing internal degradation.( the factory tank has been removed and a replacement/auxiliary tank will need to be sourced by the new owner).Under side pics reveal a fairly solid chassis with superficial rust present on most components. This is a really good start to an iconic sports car from the 70’s that will start up but hasn’t been driven in over 30 years and therefore will need a complete mechanical going over to ensure safety and reliability before attempting to drive for the first time again( due to our filming schedule we cannot perform any additional work on this car or build it for you, SOLD AS IS/WHERE IS !Please Note: there is a Bonded Texas Title in hand, please check with local authorities concerning exportation from the US with a bonded title. If you’re looking for an awesome Bricklin SV-1 project, you won’t find a better example that is priced to sell!
