Description

1930 Graham 2nd Series Special Eight

Vehicle Condition

This 1930 Special Eight 7-Passenger Sedan includes 6 wire wheels, radiator louvers, jump seats and a 4-speed transmission with 4 wheels hydraulic brakes

This car starts easily and runs well. The transmission works as it should. 4 wheel hydraulic brakes work well, tires are in good condition, all gauges and lights are working. The interior was completely restored from carpet to headliner. All 6 side windows open as does the windshield. Thermostatically controlled radiator louvers and all of the chrome is perfect.

Vehicle Rarity

There are a lot of the 6 cylinder 1930 Grahams out there, and a few of the smaller Eights, but it is rare to find any of these Special Eight 7-Passenger Sedans on the large 134" wheelbase chassis.

History of the 1930 Graham Limousine

In 1930, in the depths of the Great Depression, Graham was struggling and was trying to do anything to sell cars. At that point, Graham decided to try to enter the luxury car business to stimulate sales. They coach-built 10 limousines. After the construction of these limos, Graham found that the Continental engines they were using were not sufficient to pull a car of this size. At that point, Graham approached the Cord Auburn Duesenberg Company and ordered 10 Lycoming engines specially built to Graham’s specifications. These included four-speed transmissions. This power plant proved sufficient to handle the weight of these limousines.
