Description
1946 Packard Super Deluxe Clipper 8 Limo/7 Passenger Sedan. Straight-8 Gasoline Engine. 3 On The Tree Manual Transmission. RWD.Family limousine/7 passenger Sedan. I Purchased this 1946 Packard Clipper 8 Super deluxe,Limited 148" wheel base in 1999, it has been well stored and preserved since. This is a "War Machine"-Meant for U.S. Military general in WWII but being the war ended in 1945 Packard desperately need civilian vehicles, this is one of those such vehicles. I'm the 2nd owner, First owner out of Wyoming purchased it new in 1946, He used the Packard to marry off his three daughters then it was in his funeral procession in the 90's. This vehicle is not a restore its 99.9% all original. Due to strong winds in Wyoming one year the passenger side had stone chips in the paint, When i purchased the car I had a professional shop completely strip the vehicles paint to bare metal, no rust on the car what so ever. We primed and repainted the car back to its factory paint/i believe it was Dupont at a cost of approx $45k. We went and removed all maintenance parts-hoses,plugs,belts etc. and replaced all items with new but original spec's. Then we completely steamed out engine and repainted engine to factory specs. All 3 car heaters where removed, re-cored and i had the electric motor's rebuilt. Replaced almost 300 ft of heater hose. Replaced all 4 16 ply tires with New 16 ply white-walls. any interior item that needed fixed or cleaned up was meticulously done, includes 2 spare tires and changing tools. The tires alone cost close to 7k. I noticed the chrome had degraded over the years so I removed all chrome including the triple protected bumpers and double pieced hub caps with red jeweled centers took to special chrome shop where they chemically removed all old chrome to bare metal and Professionally re-chromed all parts. Costing close to $25k. There is a lot of heavy Chrome on this car. Has Antennae and radio but I have no idea if radio works, never hooked it up due to drain on battery, Also same for glove box clock, un-hooked from battery drain prior to my ownership. This packard comfortably seats 7-10 passengers, has all the original interior accessories including the rear of front seat blanket strap(never seen them on any Packard's), has set of middle jump-seats, and to the rear on each side is chrome looped cloth exit straps. The interior is perfect, even has the original brass fire extinguisher. Has a Tan interior with bench front and rear seat, the only difference between this 7 passenger family limo/sedan is the limo has a glass window between the drivers compartment and passenger area and limo drivers seat is like a bucket seat adjustable, the p[rice difference in the cars in 1946 was $55.00 U.S. Back in 1946 i believe this Luxury Car sold for $4450, in today's standards that is close to $300,000 what i have been told. This Beautiful Packard is A show room quality car. At one time i use to use my cars for a couple wedding per year, the Packard easily in 2003 received $600 per hour for wedding use. Its a Beautiful car. I've got about $150k or more into this beauty, but have come to the realization that i may never get it back. I'm open to offers. Buyer needs to arrange pick-up, will accept bank to bank payment.
