Description

1930 Packard 733 Convertible Coupe Listed on behalf of Monte Shelton Motors Located in PORTLAND, OREGON. With the stock market crash in October or 1929, Packard saw their stock drop from approximatly $140 per share to a low of .50 cents! Despite the dire economic prospects of the country, for 1930 Packard continued to create soem of the most luxurious and glamorous cars that would ever be seen on the road, such as this Model 733 Convertible Coupe. Priced at $2,550.00 (At a time when the average annual working wage was $1,368.00!), these were cars for those who had weathered the storm of the Great Depression. While the early history of this car is unknown, about 10 years ago it underwent a comprehensive, frame-off restoration of the highest quality. No nut or bolt was left untouched. The results were stunning and remain so today. Since restoration, this car has traveled just 850 miles, according to the odometer. It has recently been made available from a private collection here in the Northwest. The car is stunning on all levels. The paint and chrome are gorgeous. Deep black paint with complimenting red pinstripe. All trim was re-plated. The wire wheels were disassembled with the rims and hubs painted red and the spokes brightly chromed. Whether moving or standing still, it garners attention. Fully optioned with dual-sidemounted spare tires, Adonis radiator cap, trunk rack and dual Pilot Ray driving lights that turn with the front wheels to light the curves in the road ahead at night. The interior was fully restored in deep red leather which is in excellent condition throughout, including the rumble seat. The convertible top was replaced and is also exceptional. Gauges are beautiful and register accurately. Mechanically, this car is excellent, with rebuilt 320 cubic inch straight 8. Runs whisper-quiet as a Packard should, with plenty of power for modern traffic. Tremendous torque. 4-speed transmission shifts crisply. Brakes stop the car smooth and straight. I have personally owned nine Packards and have been around hundreds over the years. I have driven this car over 150 miles in all conditions and it runs without fault. Recently, this Packard was shown at the 44th Annual Forest Grove, Oregon Concours d'Elegance (one of the top concours shows on the west coast, with over 300 cars shown.) Judged in the early open Classics class among some serious competition, it received 3rd place, against a freshly-restored 1931 Lincoln Phaeton and a freshly-restored 1935 Mercedes 500K. This Packard can hold its own in any show. Please see photos from the show. If you are looking for an elegant and sporty Classic Packard that is turn-key and ready to show or go anywhere, this is a great one. Will be welcomed at all Packard Club and Classic Car Club of America events, shows and tours. A realistic reserve has been placed on this car in keeping with its quality and rarity. Please bid accordingly. WE WILL HAPPILY SELL TO BIDDERS, WORLDWIDE. Thanks for looking and GOOD LUCK! If the video link below is inactive, please go to: https://youtu.be/uX3fdvXmc-I
