Description

Packard introduced the Fourteenth Series in August 1935 for the 1936 model year. Packard produced 1,330 Super Eight Model 1404s between August 1935 and September 1936. The iconic Packard grille was slanted five degrees rearward and that was the biggest change in design for the senior cars. Features of this Packard include rare artillery wheels, dual side mounts, dual Trippe lights, tan leather interior, suicide doors, golf club storage door, step plates to enter the rumble seat, luggage rack, radio, clock, heater and factory installed V-12 vibration damping bumpers. The top and boot are Haartz stay fast canvas.

This Packard has been well maintained and all records of restoration and maintenance are included. All gauges are crisp and in good working order. According to records, the car had a complete frame on restoration at 43,500 miles. Included were the self-lubricating Bijur system and front suspension including wheel bearing and king pin assemblies. Exhaust system and muffler are both stainless steel. An overdrive lets this car cruise effortlessly down the road at highway speeds. The most recent owner had new insert rod bearings installed at 52,000 miles after which it completed several Glidden tours as well as CCCA Caravans.

Body and fender panels are true and straight. Fender, doors and hood fits are excellent. While no longer concourse quality, the paint still shows excellent shine and performance.

This coupe roadster is one of 75 built and ready for any CCCA show or Caravan.

* The car is titled as a 1935 Packard as it was produced at the beginning of the series. (this will be changed at the Bureau of Motor Vehicles)
