Description

This 1958 Plymouth Belvedere convertible is a cared for classic that's a cut above. Amazing, it has been in the same family since it was purchased new in late '57. The current owner's sister purchased the car brand new (how amazing is that?) and the family has tons of records that go with this fine piece of American history to prove out the story. Through these records we can also prove the car only has 37,838 original miles! There's also only 1,000 miles on it since a full four-year body-off restoration. So we are reserving this convertible for those who know how to cherish classic American elegance. The Chrysler cars just had a little extra flash and size compared to its two rivals in the 1950s, and this Belvedere ragtop is a prime example of this flare. The pristine Alithia white was applied when this car when through its full restoration in the mid 90s. It's near the factory color, except it has much more depth than what Plymouth offered. Of course no matter how glossy the paint is, it cannot outshine all the intricate brightwork. It starts up front with the extra large grille that wraps around the fenders and sits above and below the highly stylized chrome bumper. The trim rockets down the full length of both sides to brightly remind us all of the beginning of the jet age. This brightwork concludes in the rear with a beautiful chrome bumper flanked by trim that fits the tall tailfins perfectly. This one feels factory correct right down to the hubcaps, and someone really knew about style when they ordered this Plymouth. Even the whitewall tires perfectly coordinate with the black folding top and white body to give this one an added regal appearance even with the roof in place. Inside the black, white, and chrome motif continues. The two-tone vinyl bench seats have some great intricate texture, and so do the bright inserts in the doors. In fact, you can tell everything inside has been expertly cared for since its restoration. It's apparent the moment you sit behind the stylized two-tone wheel w/chrome ring and see the clarity of the full gauge package. And despite this car's size, the heat/defrost and AM radio controls are easily within reach...and work perfectly!Under the hood is an A-series 318 cubic-inch V8 motor that looks factory-correct right down to bold blue block and valve cover treatment. It even has the correct Carter four-barrel carburetor. It moves this convertible with some real authority, but in reality, these Plymouths were made to be comfortable cruisers. You can see it just by how operate the three-speed automatic from the push-button selector next to the steering wheel. It even has power steering, too. So this is the one you're going to enjoy showing off on Saturday but easy enough to drive all day on Sunday. We all know the movie Christine used a devilishly red possessed '58 Plymouth, but instead, this is Belvedere convertible is a car show angel. It even comes with the original warranty card and owner's manual to prove it. This is a cherished classic for chrome loves who are ready to win awards the moment you leave our showroom. Call today!!!
