Description

West Coast Classics are proud to present a rarely seen 1955 Plymouth Belvedere 2 Door Club Sedan with the factory 241 c.i. V8 engine in mostly all original condition and which is a great daily driving example with beautiful 'Tampa Turquoise' color paint with a Black roof and with a very nice condition 'Black & Green' matching cloth & vinyl interior and white sidewall tires!
After years of staid boxy and square cars, Plymouth reinvented itself in 1955 with a startling new line of sleek ...and smoothly styled cars, part of Chrysler's turnaround that year. Styling by Virgil Exner's lieutenant Murray Baldwin was clean and pleasing and modern for its day. Peaked front fenders, wrapped windshield and shapely rear fenders manifested themselves with the top-of-the-line Belvedere with a nicely outfitted interior. Like the Chevrolet, Plymouth also got it's first V8's in 1955 with the 241 cid and optional 260 cid V8 engines. These Belvedere's were sharp and handsome cars and with forward lunging front fenders and reverse angle tailights and they created a totally new image for American cars of the era. Plymouth also stressed the fact that its standard 241 V8 engine had more power than any of its rivals and the car also introduced the optional column mounted gearshift named the 'Flite Control Selector' for the 'Powerflite' transmission which drew plenty of attention.
This particular example has obviously always been garaged and is a very honest and original car with no signs of the car having ever been involved in any major accidents, with only very minor small dents and imperfections noticeable upon close inspection. The 241 V8 engine is strong and powerful and this particular car drives very well with the transmission shifting smoothly through the gears.
