Description

Award-worthy cars are usually not nearly this affordable. But after you check out the bright paint, terrific chrome, and well-finished interior on this rare 1940 Plymouth sedan, don't be surprised if you might be asked to join a few invite-only car shows.
A beautiful deep blue color is what's going to attract everyone's attention, but it's all the details that will get them talking. After all, the glossy finish is there to highlight all the interesting curves of Plymouth's slope-back pre-war design. And what that means is someone also invested plenty to make sure that the sheetmetal was straight and uniform before the first drop of blue was applied. But you don't have to tell anyone that, because they can see it in the way the full-length trim looks like an unbroken line as it hugs the sedan's body. Oh yes, this one looks fresh from a restoration, and you know there was a ton spent on it. And because this is a true classic American, there is plenty of brightwork. The chrome bumpers, unique curved dual grille, door handles, trim, and badging all have the brightness of quality. It even extends to the bold Mayflower hood ornament leading the way. And if you need any more evidence of the thoughtfulness of the restoration, just look at the wheels. Pinstriping on the color-matched steel, a bright two-piece design, and correct logo wheel covers create an impressive total presentation.
The rich brown cloth interior looks so good, you'll swear it's original. But once you feel the softness, you'll instantly know this is far fresher than eight decades old. It's because the restoration did a fantastic job with the neat details. This includes the pleats running down the center of the seats, and the coordinating patterns on the door panels, all of which show off simple art-deco styling that is pure 1940s. The same goes for the tan and chrome steering wheel. The woodgrained garnish moldings and dash have an authentic feel, too, and the original gauges are intact with clear markings. So the result is the true classic motoring experience.
The 201 cubic-inch inline-six is the correct displacement for this Plymouth. In fact, it's a period correct motor borrowed from its cousin, a Dodge. Torquey and smooth, it moves this sedan quite easily, and it has proven itself to be as reliable as an anvil. Looking highly original with its oil bath air cleaner and large horns on top, this engine has an appearance of tidy honesty that looks absolutely the part for proper '40s-style motoring. The three-speed manual transmission makes sure you get the most out of the flathead motor. Plus, strong brakes and a comfortable suspension are more reasons why Chrysler products were so ahead of their time. This authentic package is finished off with iconic whitewall tires.
When you look through all the pictures, including the undercarriage photos, you won't be able to believe something this nice is also so affordable. But if you admire this pre-war Plymouth too long, you also won't be able to forgive yourself for missing this deal. Call today!!!
