A beautiful, classic American muscle car, the Plymouth Sport Fury! This recipient of a 2014 $30,000 restoration is the truly classic American collectors find! Finished in a beautiful deep glossy black paint job shows extremely well with only minor imperfections visible upon close inspection.
Inside, the Red and white vinyl seats all look great with no major signs of wear visible. The door panels are finished to match the seats and dashboard are matched to mirror the interior of the car and all look fantastic. Paint and body are displayed well with minimal paint issues and no visible evidence of repair or damage.
Starting in 1962 and ending in 1969, the Sport Fury was offered as a hardtop coupe or a convertible. Realizing the mistake made in downsizing their full-size cars, Chrysler Corporation began to restyle and enlarge the Plymouths and Dodges on the same platform, which improved sales in 1963 and 1964. The 1964 models saw an improvement in sales, especially the two-door hardtop, which featured a new slanted roofline. Many enthusiasts consider the 1964's to be the most attractive of the early 1960's Plymouths. Like models of this car won 14 NASCAR races with a top speed of over 185 mph. While taking this car to a show in Annapolis MD I got her up to 90 mph and shewas at less than 50% throttle!
This true example of a Plymouth Sport Fury is equipped with a 426 ci Max Wedge Super Stock Stage III Race V-8 engine The Max Wedge was a race-only version of the 426 Wedge engine offered from the factory. Known as the Super Stock Plymouth and Ramcharger Dodge, the Max Wedge featured high-flow cylinder heads developed through state-of-the-art (at the time) airflow testing. Induction came by means of a cross-ram intake manifold tuned for peak power above 4000 rpm and two Carter AFB-3447SA 4-barrel carburetors. coupled to a 4-speed manual transmission, provides smooth everyday driving, but with dual exhaust, power steering, power brakes, along with a Posi-traction rear differential, is ready for the track at any given moment!
These series Sport Furys are becoming increasingly hard to find in such solid well-kept condition. Ready for the next stop light or strip. Peel-out!!!
