1948 48 Plymouth 2 door Custom Hot Rod Rat Rod Street rod Gasser Drag Car
Description
Up for bid today is a unique 1948 Plymouth project car that a friend of ours started 20 years ago. We acquiredthe car 6 years ago and did some more work on it but just don't have the time (or money) to finish it. This car started out life as a 4 door sedan that was shortened substantially to become a 2 door Coupe. The top has been chopped 2 inches and the rear window laid forward to retain the original glass, which comes with the car. The front and rear doors were cut in half and spliced together to create one door. The body still needs alot of work and is missing the right rear fender. There is no body filler yet except for the drivers door, there are alot of welds in the roof and doors that will need some filler. The doors still need latches fabbed, bear claws would be your best bet, they do open and shut fine though. The front half of the floor is there but floor behind the seat all the way back to the trunk still needs to be fabricated. Original decklid hinges need to be welded back in, along with the rear package tray. Like I said, still needs alot of work. I'm pretty sure all the stainless grille trim is there, Front and rear bumpers come with. Passenger side trim is partially missing but you can see how I spliced 2 pieces on the Drivers door, looks pretty decent, or you can fill all the holes and delete the trim. The only glass with it is the rear curved glass, everything else is flat glass so it could be made. Interior comes with a neat original dash, radio and even the original heater. Front fenders and hood are really nice and straight. Incidentally, there isn't any rust to speak of in the body at all. So lets move on to the frame/drivetrain. So the frame is the original middle section with an S-10 pickup front clip grafted on. The rear frame is fabricated box tubing with an S-10 rear axle and some rear trailing arms that haven't quite been finished yet. You could use coil-over shocks or coil springs, but right now it is tacked in place with square tubing to the frame so you can roll it around. The motor is a 70's Buick V8 with an automatic trans, I think it's a turbo 350. Car comes with 15 inch weld Wheels and brand new Kelly tires(well, they were new 20 years ago but have never been driven on and don't show signs of cracking at all) Comes with lots of extra parts, trim, engine parts, etc.Car comes with a clean Washington state title (titled as a 4 door) Buyer responsible for Shipping arrangements/pickup - will help in any way we can with loading, etc.
Would be a neat little Drag car or Jack it up with a straight axle and build a wild Gasser!
