Description

1970 Plymouth Super Bird Road Runner Alpine White Original BARN FIND

Wow! Where do I start!I just purchased a pair of 1970 Plymouth Super Bird's several weeks ago on August 23, 2018 after they sat for over 35 years in dry barn storage. You will see both listed in two separate auctions this week on eBay.I would like to sell them as a pair but I am open to your thoughts. Please be aware you are bidding on the white Super Bird this listing only and not the Blue Super Bird.
PLEASE ALLOW THE HUNDRED PLUS PHOTOS TO DOWN LOAD.

While I was attending the auction at the Owls Head Transportation Museum in Maine this August 18th, 2018, I bid on a blue 1970 Plymouth Super Bird and was the high bidder for $187,000 with the buyers premium. You can Google the auction and see the Super Bird I won on August 18, 2018. It's a beauty.
Just after I won the blue 1970 Super Bird with white bucket seat interior a man approached me and sat down next to me and stated he has 2 Super Birds in storage thathe has owned for the last 40 years. He told me he purchased them from the original owners. He said one was B5 blue with white bucket seats like the one I just purchased at Owls Head Museum and the other Super Bird was an Alpine White with black bucket seats with console auto slap stick.
My heart was still racing after just winning the auction at Owls Head and now it looked like I had the rare opportunity to purchase two more Super Birds that have been hidden from the publiceyes for over 35years. He told me he would like to sell both as a pair and that he could show them to me in five days. So I made an appointment to meet with him in five days to view both birds.
He stated that both cars were sold brand new in 1970 at Blouin Chrysler Plymouth Dodge in Augusta Maine just 10 miles from his home. He remembered both cars when they were new at Blouin Chrysler Plymouth Dodge. He knew both first original owners and when the time was right he purchased both Birds from each of the original owners, he said around 1978.
He kept them registered until 1985 and 1987 and you can still see the last registrations still on both windshields as seen in the photos. He told me he then prepared both cars for storage and put straight antifreeze in both original motors. He also filled the cylinders with Marvel mystery lubricating oil to keep both blocks fresh while in dry storage.

He also stated to me he was a well seasoned Mopar mechanic and collector since he was a young boy and always loved Mopar's since he was a teenager.

The day I met with him to see both birds I was so incredibly excited to see them and still could not believe that these cars were hidden entombed for over 35 years. When I pulled into his yard he opened both garage doors and there staring me in the face were the two birds with their eyes looking straight at me, headlights open. I took photos of both cars as they sat before I even walked into the garage.

Wow! What a barn garage find!

There was so much clutter surrounding both cars we had to move everything out just to look at them. They were covered with decades of barn dirt and dust with rubble all around them as seen in the photos. It appeared as though he did a quick clean up on the white Super Bird at some point prior to my viewing and purchase but it was still very dirty. The Blue Bird had not been cleaned... it looked like in decades.

He guaranteed me the Blue Super Bird had 27,416 original miles from new, 1970 and the White Super Bird had 42,497 original miles from new, 1970. He also stated he had been around and worked on Mopars for a great part of his life and considered himself very knowledgeable on them and would also guarantee me both motors, transmissions, and rear ends in both cars were day one numbers matching factory for their 1969 original build for the 1970 production. He stated again that both motors were never out of the cars since new 1970. After verifying all build dates, fender tags, and VIN numbers on both cars, I looked over all the paperwork documentation from new with original owners names and dealership info and purchased both cars that day.

.
We called a ramp truck from his hometown of Augusta Maine and they picked both cars up one at a time and brought them to my island vacation home 35 miles away in Maine all in the same day. I wanted them home safe.
You can see in the pictures below the white Bird being picked up by a ramp truck and seeing outside daylight for the first time in decades.

You can see in the pictures below the Blue Bird being picked up by a ramp truck and seeing outside daylight for the first time in decades.

I followed the ramp truck driver to my home both tripsjust 35 miles from where these two birds sat for 40 years. So their first trip out was just a short haul away to myMainehome. I can not believe both these cars were entombed just 35 miles from my Mainehome and that I never new about them for the twenty years that I lived there. Found right in my back yard.

WOW!! Amazing survivorstory!!!

Here you can see these rare Birds out in the sunshine for the first time in decades just after being delivered to myMainehome still dirty.

From there, the very next day I had them delivered in an enclosed trailer to my home in Massachusetts just 3 hours away where you see them in front of my red barn delivered without a drop of rain.

I put them into my barn at my home enclosed in dry storage until I could finally start the cleaning process. Note in the pictures below the velvet seat covers on the front bucket seats of the white car. They are now taken off and are stored in the trunk. Also check out the old pioneer cassette stereos he put in both cars. I left the stereos in both cars which are classics in themselves.

Here is the white Bird before she was cleaned and polished. The owner did adecent fast cleaning at some point prior to my purchase.

I washed both Birds, cleaned the interiors, and vacuumed the carpets, cleaned all the glass and polished the bright work. This took me many, many days. The white bird looks great next to my 70 Red 4 speed Hemi Cuda convertible.... two great mopars.
Make sure you view the over 100 pictures I have posted of this Birdafter she was cleaned and polished further below.

Please also note, I have not tried to get both these Super Birds running. I am selling both just as I purchased them in non running condition allowing the new owner to work his magic to properly take the right steps to get them up and running again. The owner guaranteed me that both motors would run with no problems and were turning freely. They turned freely at his barn and now at my home both motors are both turning freely as well. I have no time to take them to the next step of restoration and will have to leave that up to the next owner. I photographed both cars the best I could.
You can see all the motor block dates and VIN numbers and fender tags, odometer mileage and more in the photos. The B5 Blue Super Bird has a 440 super commando 4 barrel but the owner put on 440 plus 6 decals on the outside of the car which can easilybe removed. The blue Super Bird has the super track pak with pistol grip 4 speed, Dana rear end. It has both original jacks and spare complete. The white car is missing the jacks and spare tire, and the original air cleaner. The Mopar air cleaner on the white car is very desirable and looks great. The owner told me he has the original spare tire, air cleaner and jack's however his ex-wife has them at her home and due to his divorce he is going to have to wait a while before he can get them for me.
I can only sell the white Super Bird with no spare and jack's, and air cleaner at this time. If he gets these items for me they will go to the next owner, however, I can not promise I will ever get them from him. I am not sure why he painted both cars in the 70’s. The paint job is not show room just very presentable as photos show.
The interior is original on both cars. Both vinyl roofs are very high grade original condition. The padded dash's on both cars are as nice as you will ever find with no cracks or blemishes. Both trunks are spotless untouched rust free on both cars as seen in the photos. The floors and trunks were under coated from day one with thick Ziebart under coat at the dealership and are solid rust free. The tag for the Ziebart under coating is still on the door and window on the white car and it was done at the dealership in 1970 with the mileagetag still on the door. The blue car had Rusty Jones under coat done at the dealer ship in 1970 the owner told me at extracost just like the white bird. When you scrape the under coat off the floors on the under side the metal still looks like new.
Both cars will need the typical maintenance like any car that has been in dry storage for almost 40 years. Brakes, exhaust, motor service, fluid changes, filters, transmission fluid's, etc. Its amazing the brakes still work fine on both cars.I put a spare battery I had into both cars and low and behold all the lights came on as you can see in the pictures, head lights, side markers, interior lights brake lights etc. Please note both cars will need a new battery.
These cars are 48 years old and not like new and will need the typical work to make them travel the highways again.
These cars are a super investment with only 1920 made in total production. If you are a Mopar Super Bird expert you will be able to look at all the VIN#s stamped into both motors as well as the transmissions along with all casting #s, build dates and original fender tags. He stated the fender tags have never been off the car and it sure looks that way to me. Also both cars have all their original glass windows #s matching in beautiful original condition. Both these Birds are the real deal and true barn finds. Google the Super Bird history it’s truly incredible and too much for me to list.

One of the most collectible muscle cars with one of the most incredible automotive Aerodynamicdesigns in automotive history. When is the last time any of you dealers, collectors, or writers, ever seen a pair of 70 Super Birds offered after over 35 years of undriven storage. These cars are coming up to the 50th anniversary next year and Chrysler-Plymouth will have shows dedicated to this rare winged warrior all over the USA.

They speculate they will be going way up in value at the 50th anniversary auctions. Don't miss this rare once in a life time opportunity as Iam offering both cars at a very fair price with plenty of meat on the bone for new owner to invest in getting both cars road worthy again to enjoy and take to the car shows.
