Description

With its outstanding curb appeal and well aligned exterior draped in a high impact shade, this 1969 Plymouth Sport Satellite might give you the impression that it's rocketed forward from its native late '60s to the present with no stops in between. It's running very strong and carries a defining MoPar powerplant under its hood. This sharp looking Plymouth has been dressed in yellow its entire life, and the Sunfire shade it now wears replaces its original yellow gold while adding a bit more vibrance. It's very appealing and a direct hit in this setting and while this high impact color will no doubt entice passersby to take a nice lengthy look, the condition of the exterior will keep them looking. The pair of broad black stripes running the length of the double-scooped hood provides a nice contrast, as well as a great vintage detail that combines well with the black spoiler sitting on the deck lid. You won't find any serious blemishes to detract from the awesomeness of this exterior, even if you get up nice and close. The bumpers in both front and back appear to have been fairly recently added - they really look sharp. The trim throughout is also in good shape and clear glass surrounds the cabin, accompanied by fresh-looking seals. The gray interior is a nice change from the much more common vinyl norm. It shows all the earmarks of a very detailed refurbishment - the low backed front buckets and rear bench seat sport very well-fitted tweed covers and tie in perfectly with the door panels on either side and the quarter trim in back. Just beyond the leather wrapped steering wheel sporting a very cool Road Runner decal in its center, the dash area also looks sharp. This Plymouth didn't start off with a gray interior, so arriving at the well-finished look it now sports took some serious work. You'll find clear, functional factory gauges in the instrument cluster, joined by a trio of aftermarket counterparts situated just above the center console. A few cracked louvres in the center vents is about the only issue to contend with inside, and that's certainly an easy fix. An AM radio sits in the center of the dash, but there's also an AM/FM/CD player on board for more audio options. The trunk area in back looks straight and clean and offers plenty of storage room - even with the full-size spare sitting inside. Its floor, as well as the inner wheelhouses, is lined with gray fabric to match the interior. Raise the hood and you'll come face to face with a signature MoPar powerplant combo of the era - an expansive 440 cubic inch V8 topped with a coveted Plymouth 6-pack -made up of three 2-barrel carbs to feed the big block all it can handle. It sits in a show-stopper of an engine bay with its badged air cleaner and valve covers, surrounded by fresh hoses, bright yellow inner fenders and neatly routed wiring. The configuration is in good form here - the engine fires up quickly and has been armed with an aftermarket performance cam that provides a very appealing lope - not so drastic as to wreak havoc with available vacuum, but just right to send a great sounding note out the ceramic coated headers. The 3-speed automatic transmission also features a Gear Vendor overdrive to bring RPMs down at highway speeds. Power steering makes navigation easy, while front disc brakes provide fade resistant stopping power as this outstanding Plymouth cruises on its set of 15" stock steel wheels outfitted with BF Goodrich T/A radials. A well-restored MoPar classic is always a welcome sight and this 1969 Plymouth Sport Satellite is sure to bring smiles to both owner and onlookers for miles and miles to come. Call today!
