Description

1968 Roadrunner 383 4-speed Original 87k miles

Up for sale is my family’s 1968 Roadrunner 383 4bbl 4 speed original 87k miles. Here is the story,

My father purchased this car when he was 18 years old, he proposed to my mother in the car. The roadrunner was my father’s pride and joy. The car was bought, stored in New York. Since then the car has moved everywhere with us, as a child to an adult this car has always been in my life thru the positives and difficulties. 33 Years in the family. The car has not changed much since my dad first got it back when he was 18 years old. I have old photos to prove that. When my parents got divorce over my father cheating, he was building another car. A 1966 belvedere. The plan was to take the 440 and 18 spline 4 speed out of the roadrunner and put it in the belvedere. The profits from that car would go to a new motor and Trans for the roadrunner. Well in between this, a nasty divorce came about and it was ugly. The outcome was receiving a car without an engine or Trans thru the divorce. I received this car in the wrong part of my life and in the wrong way. Due to finical situation and room, I have come to terms of selling it. Therefore, what you are looking at is a real coded 1968 roadrunner that produced in March of 1968 actually 2 weeks before my dad was born. It has perfect Original interior that has never been apart. Original 87k miles, Original vinyl top, An original 4 speed car with the 2 tone interior and décor package. It has a refresh paint job enamel that was painted sometime in the late 70s or early 80s. Two build sheets and lots of documentation. This roadrunner has everything except an engine and transmission, Radiator, ignition components and a brake master cylinder. Everything else is there in great shape. It would take not much money and a weekend to get this car cruising around town.

The quarters, fenders, floor pan framing is all in excellent condition no rust or rotting that I can see. There is some surface rust servicing underneath the car from bare metal spots. The car has always been garaged never washed with water and has not seen rain. The car was running and driving 4 years ago. In addition, I have a video from 8 years ago to prove that. Suspension components look great and are original. Brake pads where done a couple of years ago so they are great. The fuel tank was dropped cleaned new filter sock 5 years ago. The car has factory undercoating that is in great shape still. The rear end has a posi unit with 4.10 gears. I believe the rear end was freshen up back in the 90s not positive. The bumpers and trim are in excellent condition and all the lighting and electrical work great. The glass is in perfect shape, with a small chip in the front windshield that has been there forever. The body is in great shape with a small ding on the top driver’s fender, I would rate paint as a 5fter and driver. Under the hood all stickers and originality is there. The vinyl top is also in great shape a small bubble has started where the lead seam is on the driver side back roof seam under the vinyl top. It has been there for a while and do not seem to be rot or rust or a main concern. Other than that there is no bubbling or blistering anywhere else or even around windows. This car would fit the perfect person to build a drivetrain and drive. I am selling it for what I can get so no reserve on this car.
