1973 Plymouth Roadrunner H-Code 340
Just the Facts
I'm proud to offer for your consideration this real deal H Code 340 Plymouth RoadRunner. This is a personally owned vehicle, not a brokered car like the majority of my auctions. Actual H Code 340's don't come around often with just 5,384 produced. I was told the rebuilt 340 engine is from a 1969 car but haven't researched any block numbers. It's a low miles recent build with X heads, headman 78050 headers, performer RPM manifold, and a dual feed Demon 750cfm Holley 4160 double pumper carb. The rest of the drive train is believed to be original. This car runs well, runs cool, and drives straight. Car will come with car cover and a never used rattle can of the paint color.
So the starting bid on this no reserve auction is what was paid for the car BEFORE all the work listed below. Over 25k is in the car now but you guys get to decide what it's worth. NADA says $26,760 in average condition. I believe this one is better than average.
Recent repairs and upgrades -
Rust repair. The front section of the right side rear quarter was cut out and replaced with new sheet metal. The drivers side looked good, I believe it may have been replaced before based on info from the past owner. The Roadrunner received a fresh base coat of K-6 Autumn bronze poly paint, the correct factory color. Then the new reflective white roadrunner decal kit was applied. The original shop that did the paint job left a little rust on the lower right rear quarter that I initially missed since it was small and out of site. I went to a different shop to have this repaired, not wanting to deal with the old shop. The rust was removed the correct way, the entire car was blocked again and wet sanded, then a second coat of high quality clear was laid down. This should keep this Roadrunner looking great for years to come, especially the now clear coat protected stripes.
Thetransmission has a new pan gasket and filter, new fill tube seal, and new rear seal. It leaked quite a bit when purchased but not a drop now. New upper and lower ball joints were also installed. All the old exhaust is gone and replaced with Series 40 Flowmaster mufflers and Flowmaster 15806 muffler back tailpipes. The exhaust between the headers and mufflers was also replaced, all 2.5 inch now. The factory Pypes304 stainless steel red slotted angle cut exhaust tips finish off the exhaust.
The car has an 8 3/4 rear axle with "489" carrier and a 3.55 gear ratio.Cam is a Comp Cams 20-232-4 Hydraulic flat tappet. Engine hasACC super stock spiral yellow plug wires. The car has a lot of records from the previous owner as well. The fender tag is decoded so if you want me to send that to you just drop me a message. I always run Valvoline VR1 racing oil and ethanol free gas. The car also has a new battery. Allgauges work, all lights work, wipers work.
I didn't forget the interior which is believed to be all original and is in excellent condition with new foam and upholstery on the front bucket seats. The console area and bezel look excellent. The rear seat was in great shape so I left it alone. Headliner is in good shape with just one small tear. Dash pad looks nearly perfect, maybe too nice for an original 73 dash. It was also probably replaced previously.
So the car isn't listed at 40k, so there are a few flaws like with any car you want to drive, not store in a garage. The factoryradio you can barely hear if at all. Someone put some pioneer speakers in the car doors and in the back, so when you do get theradio fixed up it should sound good. Drivers side door window has a couple small chips in it at the very top from hitting the rattle guard when shutting. I've removed the rattleguard clip. The piece of trim that goes under the trunk lid and over the bumper is coming loose at the ends. The stripes have a few minorimperfections, like a small bubble here or there. It's hard to find much to pick at with this Roadrunner, it's in excellent condition.
If you read all the above you can see that I try to give cars Iauction complete and detailed descriptions. My cars are always available for inspection by yourself or a third party. If you have a question please ask before purchasing the car. You'll always get full honest answerswhich eliminates any possible issues after the sale. I reserve the right to end the auction at anytime if an offer isaccepted so be sure to let your interest be known early if you want to own this rare H code 340 Roadrunner.
