Description

Photos don't really do justice to this car. It started out as a pristine, low-mileage survivor that had been garaged for decades. The the new owner removed it from the garage and proceeded with a ten year "frame-off" restoration using many NOS parts. Chrome parts were either rechromed or replaced with NOS. Stainless steel trim was either polished or replaced with NOS. All metal surfaces were refinished to factory specifications including the frame and the underside of the car. Engine, transmission, and all running gear and suspension items were rebuilt or replaced. Complete professional re-upholstery of interior (including headliner) and trunk. Correct whitewall tires are on factory rims with NOS wheel covers. In the trunk is a like new spare and original jack and tire iron. The car is finished in correct factory colors, Black over Santa Rosa Coral. There is NO rust on this car. Engine is the 230 cubic inch straight six with a three-speed column shift manual transmission. The engine starts easily and runs smoothly in town and on the highway. The non-power brakes and steering function just as they did from the factory.
This was a two year only body style for Plymouth. I have never seen another 1954 Plymouth in the 20 or so years I have been attending car shows and rarely do you ever see a two door hardtop. If you would like to get into the collector car hobby very inexpensively and start of with a car that is ready to show, here's your chance. You can own it for less than half what it would take to duplicate this restoration.
As a potential buyer, one of the biggest questions you should have for me is "Why are you selling if this car is so great"? My answer is pretty simple. At age 75, I can't enjoy this hobby as I used to. Arthritis limits my mobility and I have lost the sight in one eye. This is my only collector car. I have owned several (one at a time) in my lifetime and I have learned that we never really own them, we are just caretakers for the next owners. With the car show season ready to get under way, it's time for my Belvedere to go to a new home.
