As I said in May I drove Duster to Tulsa OK, a 1200 mile round trip. To make sure I had no issues the following was done. New Alternator, starter, voltage regulator, aluminum 2 core radiator, new hoses, 160 F T-stat, water pump, belt, timing chain, repacked wheel bearings, new wheel cylinders, new brake shoes, new combi kits, new shocks front and rear, new Cooper Cobra Radial GT 225/70/14, for a great ride, brand new spare, inner/outer tie rod ends, wheel alignment, after market under dash water temp and oil pressure gauges. Duster ran 50 psig oil pressureall day, and never went above 180 F on even the hottest day. Even added a AM/FM CD player with 2- 6x9 speakers. Duster drove 70-80 mph all day with no issues, all this and I was getting 22-24 mpg. Car underneath is SOLID. Spare Tire well is coated with Flex seal, during a bad downpour in Tulsa I found traces of water in the trunk, it was a preventive measure. I do have a spare gauge cluster and extra tail lights if you want them.
cons- fuelsending unitis brand new, but flaky, 68" speedo is brand new, but because of the Volare transmission an adaptor is needed, different cable end piece on the trans side. May need a new carb eventually, but it works good now. You see on the drivers side 1/4 panel a small 3"x3" rust hole forming, there is a dent between the tail lights, and a dent on the right corner. Also there is a small dent in the pass side fender that I forgot to mention before. I did not want to fix after all it is an original paint car.
This car you can enjoy on a trip tomorrow, it is a dream to drive, it is reliable enough to be a daily driver.
